Marvel has announced it’s joining forces with Skydance New Media, the studio formed by former Uncharted director Amy Hennig on a new game.
As per the announcement, the game will be a “narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure game” with a “completely original story and take on the Marvel Universe”. Apart from that however, there’s not too much details to go on. We can probably infer it won’t be based in the MCU, however.
Hennig provides a quote for the announcement. “I can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game. The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience. It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love.”
Hennig first announced she was starting her new studio in 2019. Joining her over there was Julian Beak, who has credits on LittleBigPlanet and Battlefield. The rest of the team is said to include “an accomplished crew of developers with decades of AAA experience in action and adventure gaming”.
There’s no date or platforms for Amy Hennig’s new Marvel project yet, but hopefully we’ll hear more soon. Hennig’s quite busy of late, as she’s also credited on writing duties on Square Enix’s upcoming Forspoken.
