US Congress representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has bought Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and she dropped by players’ islands to say “hello.” (via Animal Crossing World).
Hi there! Very new to this.
I would like to visit random people’s islands and leave a doodle or note on their bulletin board.
Can I do that? If so, how?
Should I open my DMs for the first time since the Zuckerberg hearing for the Dodo codes?? https://t.co/pQlm0ES1cM

Ocasio-Cortez has been bitten by the bug, too, and though she is “very new to this,” she wanted to “visit random people’s islands and leave a doodle or note on their bulletin board[s].” “Can I do that?” the politician posed the question to Twitter. “If so, how?” She let people DM her “for the first time since the Zuckerberg hearing,” no less, so that players could send her Dodo Codes for their islands.
UPDATE 3: Okay! After a few visits earlier I am reopening for a few more #AOCHouseCalls .
DMs are opening again for 4 minutes, drop me your Dodo code and a note and I may stop by!

Fortunately, the outcome was positive, and waves of “very wholesome” messages caused her application to crash. “People are asking for surprise visits to their spouse’s islands!!” said Ocasio-Cortez. “This is the love everyone deserves.” Garbed in a custom design of her election campaign’s logo, Ocasio-Cortez took notes on what is acceptable Animal Crossing etiquette, and brought along pears from her own island to offer as a gift to her hosts.

She also dropped by Justin Mirsky’s island, an Animal Crossing player who happened to have previously lived in her House district. “AOC left us a beautiful note,” he said, and shared her sweet message through Twitter. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Brie Larson, Danny Trejo, Elijah Wood—who will be the next celebrity to surprise fans in the social sim game?
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now for the Nintendo Switch.
