Developer Eremite Games and publisher Hooded Horse have announced the launch of a brand new Sentinels of the Forest update for roguelite city builder Against the Storm.

The highlight of this latest update is the addition of a brand new fifth playable species, for which the development team held a vote amongst its early access community. The winner of that vote was Foxes, and with their introduction comes a bunch of new buildings and needs. They include Fox Houses (of course) along with the rather less obvious Distillery, Beanery and a Tea House.

That’s right, these foxes have an affinity for the classic British staple – even having the ability to heal people with tea. On top of that, the foxes themselves require porridge, another new addition in this update that you can make with grain and rainwater. They’ll need a fair amount of this, as these foxes have low resiliency, but they also have fewer demands and ignore resolve penalties from the Forest.

In return, you’ll find foxes handy for scouting and working with tech fuelled by rain, which will make them pretty handy in your building endeavours. Of course, adding a new species isn’t the only change, with plenty in this update to show the other species some love too. This includes the introduction of passive abilities for each species. You can check out some of these features in the trailer below.

To go along with today’s update, Against the Storm will also be getting a nifty discount on Steam as part of its Weekend Deals promotion, meaning you can try out the game for 25% less than it’s normal price until April 27.

The Sentinels of the Forest update goes live today, April 13. Against the Storm is available now in Early Access on PC from Steam, GOG and Epic Games Store.
