It’s been 7 actual years since The Elder Scrolls 6 debuted at the now-dead, once-annual E3 trade show. In the years since, fans have waited with bated breath – or baited breath if you’re an Argonian (delete this) – for one more morsel of sweet, sweet Elder Scrolls goodness.
As it turns out, a new trailer reportedly does exist for the long-awaited RPG, we’re just not allowed to see it. According to a recent report, Xbox executives have been shown a full trailer for the upcoming RPG, but fans still have to wait.
According to Xbox insider and reporter Jez Corden, Bethesda Game Studios prepared a new trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6 to show internally at Microsoft/Xbox. However, this trailer was never meant to be shown to the public, despite the extremely long wait.
After believing the game would be at the recent Xbox Games Showcase, Corden explained that he had only heard about the game’s internal demonstrations at Microsoft and believed a public showing was on the way. Unfortunately, that show’s one-more-thing was simply Black Ops 7.
“I thought maybe it was going to be there… because I’d heard there’d been internal trailers and they’ve been demonstrating it internally,” he explained. “So, I’m kind of like, well, if they’re demonstrating it early and I’m hearing about it, chances are that maybe it’s going further afield now.”
The creation of internal trailers for games isn’t a new phenomenon for The Elder Scrolls 6. In fact, nearly every game has internal trailers created at multiple stages in development to show progress, vibe and the overall experience players can expect and marketing can push.
The creation of a new trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6 could mean that the game has hit a developmental milestone with Bethesda Game Studios showing off progress to their Xbox overseers. However, it might still be a while until we, the meagre general public, actually get to see anything.
Alongside The Elder Scrolls 6, Bethesda is also collaborating on a Fallout 3 Remaster in the same vein as the recent Oblivion Remastered project. While former ex-Fallout developers would like the new game to revise the original’s gunplay, there’s no word on whether it actually will. Additionally, there may be more Starfield content on the way, which is, frankly, hilarious, and I like that game.
Hopefully, we can get our hands on a new Elder Scrolls game sometime before we all perish, but it’s not like we’re hurting for content. After the official Oblivion Remastered, players have the long in-development Skyblivion fan project releasing at the end of this year. Additionally, Elder Scrolls Online always has something new coming. But, yes, ES6 is the dream, and hopefully it’ll be a glorious one.
