Tamagotchi, the ’90s virtual pet sensation, has found a new lease of life on the Apple Watch, helping the game shoot to the top of the paid iPhone Apps chart, ahead of Minecraft.

Bandai Namco first launched Tamagotchi Classic for iOS back in 2013, but its recent update to support the Apple Watch appears to have gone down a treat.

The game update coincided with a 75 per cent discount on the app, meaning it costs only 79p until today. The price cut also would have helped its chart position.

Thanks to the update Apple Watch users can now check on their Tamagotchi’s status and take care of it directly on the watch.

  • If your Tamagotchi calls for you, it will show up on your Apple Watch.
  • Check your Tamagotchi’s status at a glance.
  • Take care of your Tamagotchi’s needs directly from your Apple Watch, like sending it to the restroom or feeding it.
