8.8 million PlayStation Move controllers have been sold worldwide, Sony has announced. The figure was given during the platform holder’s E3 press conference which took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
As well as announcing the sales figure, Sony showcased a number of Move titles including a Move action adventure title Medieval Moves: Deadmund’s Quest. Bigger news was the announcement that BioShock Infinite will have support for the PlayStation Move controller, after Ken Levine was convinced by Sony of the controller’s worth for novice gamers.
A Resistance 3 Move bundle including game, Move controller, PlayStation Eye and Sharp Shooter gun was also announced, but the $150 bundle seemed a tad expensive.
Sony’s 8.8 million figure is impressive, but it hasn’t clarified how that breaks down. Presumably that includes sales of the Move controller and Navigation controller, and many Move players will have bought two or more. This would put Move’s user base at a figure considerably lower than 8.8 million.
