UPDATE 2K has clarified the number of unique character models included in WWE 2K16. There will be 120 characters, plus multiple variations of the same wrestler from different eras. Original story follows.

Anybody who’s played a WWE game in recent years will tell you the commentary hasn’t been up to snuff, but it is something that 2K is aware of, according to international brand manager Bryce Yang.

In fact, the team at 2K has made attempts to rectify the situation, bringing across the audio team that produces NBA 2K’s stellar commentary for this year’s WWE 2K16.

“Everybody knows the commentary in this game, traditionally has not been great,” Yang told VideoGamer.com at Gamescom earlier today, “so it’s something that we definitely want to improve.

“The guys who handle NBA commentary are the guys who are working on this one too now. So it’s like career mode it’ll be a process.”

WWE 2K16’s big feature this year is the inclusion of 120 unique character models, though Yang admits that some of these will be multiple forms of the same wrestler.

“So when they say 120 unique models, that’s if you count, there’s 120, but there are certain guys who have different versions, right? So just like in the 30 years of Wrestlemania, you had different versions of different characters, you do have some of that in this game as well. There are different versions of some guys.”

WWE 2K16 launches October 30 on PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
