- Exit the story book and leaf back to the previous page
- Use the Tilt Gauntlets to push the painting of Humgrump onto the scanner
Struggling to find the The Plucky Squire jail face recognition puzzle solution? After making his way through Deepdoom, gathering up the gang as he goes, Jot finds himself with a tough puzzle to crack: a tightly closed, steel door can only be opened by a face recognition scanner. Jot isn’t one of Humgrump’s guards which makes this all a bit tricky.
We’ll walk you through how to solve the face recognition problem, which you’ll need to progress through chapter 8. If you’re on the hunt for collectibles, check out all the Glitchbird and Art Scroll locations.
How to open the Deepdoom jail face recognition door
To open the door, use the portal to jump out of the story book. Head to the edge of the book, then leaf through to the previous page. A keen eye will spot the glowing portrait of Humgrump on the left-hand page. Stay on the edge of the book and tilt the left hand page all the way so that it meets the right-hand page. This will move the painting of Humgrump so that it’s sitting directly on top of the face recognition scanner. The game suggests the face of a soldier but Humgrump’s works for this puzzle.

When the book closes, you’ll hear a very distinctive jingle to confirm the painting has indeed been transferred onto the other page. A short cut-scene will play with the narrator confirming that the door is now very much open and free for Jot and the gang to go through.
Go to the edge of the book once more, tap LT and RT to ‘manipulate,’ then leaf through to the next page on the right (the one you were on previously with the door). Use the portal to return to the story book and make your way through the door to continue on with the chapter.
