Take a break, catch some fish
- Fishing is unlocked when you reach the Great Desert.
- Talking to Clyde starts the ‘Looking Glass’ quest that unlocks fishing.
- There are six fishing spots and 25 fish in Stellar Blade
Our Stellar Blade fishing guide is here to help you track down every fish and their favourite bait to collect all 25 types of fish in the game. Completing the data entry for each fish is necessary to unlock the Ocean Maid costume, which is surely incentive enough for many. Fishing is a simple minigame in Stellar Blade, but getting the bait and the locations can be tricky.
How to unlock fishing in Stellar Blade
To unlock fishing, you need to reach the Great Desert region and complete the Looking Glass quest. You enter the Great Desert as part of the story after you complete Matrix 11, meaning you have to play quite a lot of the game before you can unlock fishing.
Once you arrive in the Great Desert, make your way to the east and find the Oasis in the Great Desert; it’s large and very hard to miss. You will also see a quest icon on your map, indicating the location of Clyde. Talk to Clyde, catch one fish, and you will complete the Looking Glass quest. Now, grab the fishing rod by Clyde and you can start fishing to your heart’s content. The more you fish, the more rewards you can buy from Clyde. Bait needed for fishing can be bought from Clyde.
Find Fishing Data
After you buy the Fishing Data and the Fantastic Fishing Data items, you can catch different fish in some areas.
Fishing Data helps make it easier to catch fish and lets you find other fish you couldn’t before. To get Fishing Data, you need to buy it from Clyde using Fishing Points. Otherwise, to get the best Fishing Data item, you will need to finish these quests: Wife’s Water Tank, An Unforgettable Fish Dish, and Fish Research. Completing these quests unlocks A Gift for a Fishing Maniac, and finishing this mission will reward you with the best Fishing Data upgrade.
All fishing locations in Stellar Blade
These are all six fishing locations in Stellar Blade and how to reach them.
Small Pond near Xion’s Exit
In Xion, take the path leading out of the city and across the bridge towards the Wasteland exit. As you pass the fast-travel phone on your left, the pond is just in front of you. You will need to come to this fishing spot to complete the “An Unforgettable Fish Dish” mission.
Small Pond near the Clock Tower in Eidos 7
After the first big supply camp rest spot in the flooded district, you can find a small rectangular fishing pond in the area where the clock tower puzzle is. Facing the clock tower above you, head to the right and you will find the small pool. You can find Mahi-Mahi and the Halibut fish here. You will need to catch a Halibut for the “Fish Research” mission.
Hidden Cave north of the Solar Tower in the Wasteland.
The Hidden Cave is found north of the Solar Tower in the Wasteland. The Solar Tower is located on the western side of the map and if you go north from the tower you will find the hidden cave. This is a large cavern with a huge body of water and an island in the middle. After you get the Fantastic Fishing data, come here to find Large fish.
The Plant in the Wasteland
Another Wasteland location, the Plant is located on the eastern side of the map. The Plant is half submerged and this is the area where you will find the Fantastic Bait after you get the relevant Request for it, called “Where is The Fantastic Bait”.
Oasis in the Great Desert
The Oasis is the first fishing spot you will be able to use. This is where you find Clyde and unlock fishing by completing his quest, the Looking Glass. From this fishing spot, you can catch all small fish and, after you get the Fantastic Bait, all Jumbo fish.
Eidos 9 – Atelier
The missable hidden area, Eidos 9, also has a fishing location near Lily’s Atelier. There is a route away from the Atelier that leads to a fishing spot, so make sure you go there before you leave. This is the final area of this region, which is after the point of no return leading to the final stages of the game.
This location is where you can get all three Gigantic fish types, which should be the final three fish you need to complete your collection. We highly recommend clearing everything related to fishing before you come here, which will be a prompt from Lily if you’ve unlocked the region.
