Around the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone are anomalous fields, areas where anomalous activity is off the charts and can cause more than a little damage to your fragile Stalker, but, more interestingly, they are where you’ll find artifacts. These are curious objects with unique physical properties that can either be beneficial, detrimental, or a straight up gamble. You can either equip them to benefit from their properties or sell them for coupons. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to get artifacts from anomalies.
How to find artifacts in Stalker 2
To hunt for artifacts, you’ll need to use the scanner. You’ll find the scanner on a dead body wearing an orange hazmat suit in the mobile lab bunker during the opening There and Back Again mission. The body is in the corridor behind the glass cabinet.
Bring up your inventory and hover over the Echo Detector, the small yellow electronic device. Drag and drop it on the green equipment slot below the weapon and armor slots. This equips the scanner. Hold tab (on PC) to bring up the radial menu and tap Q to pull out the scanner.
The scanner will emit a flashing blue light and an electronic beep that intensifies as you get nearer to an artifact. You’ll want to use these signals to figure out the location of a nearby artifact within an anomaly. When you’re next to an artifact, the scanner light will stop flashing and stay lit while also emitting short constant beeps close to one another. When you spot the artifact, approach it and tap F (on PC) to pick it up.
How to use an artifact in Stalker 2
To use an artifact in Stalker 2, bring up your inventory, hover over the artifact, then drag and drop it into the specialized equipment slot on the left below the scanner slot. Once equipped, you’ll benefit – or suffer – from the artifact’s unique properties.
How to find anomalies
Anomalies pop up all through the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone and you’ll come across them naturally by exploring and following the story. NPC in settlements and out in the wilderness will also drop hints about anomalies that are close by, much like the early Dangerous Visitors side mission where Gloomy tells you about the anomaly in the nearby cave. Not all anomalies have artifacts for you to loot, though.
