Is Stalker 2 on Game Pass? Answered

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl offers players a chance to return to the morose world established in the previous games in the franchise. The post-apocalyptic Eastern European setting is primed for exploration in spite of the radiation, mutant monsters, and other dangers both human and inhuman. With the game’s release taking over the world, players are delving into the Zone to uncover its secrets. Is Stalker 2 on the Xbox Game Pass?

Fans rejoice, because yes, Stalker 2 is on Game Pass from day one. This was confirmed on the Stalker 2 Xbox Store page as well. For a while, it wasn’t certain that would be the case, especially because many high-profile games often appear on Game Pass a few months after the release. Fortunately for Stalker fans, that wasn’t the case.

Stalker 2 marked the franchise’s first foray onto consoles. The devs have gone on record in an interview with Windows Central, stating that they hope that Game Pass availability will help more gamers find the new game and become fans:

“We don’t think about Stalker as being just successful in Ukraine, it’s successful all over the world too. With Stalker 2, we’re hoping to find fans in all new countries, too. It’s not just a local story for us, especially if we’re talking about global sales. On Xbox Game Pass, we can only talk for ourselves, but we believe that it’s helping us a lot. Stalker is new to consoles, so going through Game Pass will help us reach a new audience. If you’re unfamiliar, you might not buy “Stalker” if you see it next to a $60 icon, but you can give it a try with Xbox Game Pass, and perhaps become a fan of the franchise.” 

With this information, fans both old and new have a good chance to try out the game with the Xbox subscription service instead of buying it outright. Being able to play it from day one could prove to be the boost that the game needs after its rocky development.
