Press the Block button at the end of a special move combo to enhance them in Mortal Kombat 1. Enhanced moves cost a bar of the Super Meter and deal more damage. Some attacks also have unique animations, frame data, and additional benefits when enhanced. Dealing damage increases the Super Meter at the bottom of your screen.

You can find special moves in the pause menu. For example, here’s an enhanced special move from Kitana in MK1:

  • Fan Toss: Away, Forward, Front Punch
  • Enhanced Fan Toss: Away, Forward, Front Punch + Block

Sure, a front kick or low punch is great, but enhanced moves deal far more damage. Expect new character arcs from characters like Mileena, General Shao, Sindel, and Quan Chi. If you want to take the fire god’s powers for a spin, here’s our definite Mortal Kombat 1 Liu Kang guide.
