Nintendo has finally announced the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 5 DLC release date bringing along a slew of new tracks to the racer. The Wave 5 DLC will include a total of eight courses, the most notable of which is the new bathroom-inspired Squeaky Clean Sprint track.

However, these aren’t the only goodies you can expect with the additional content as three more characters are also being added to the roster, one of whom is the notoriously powerful blue cloak-wearing Magikoopa, Kamek. So now that we’ve given you a preview of what to expect, you’ll be able to find out even more about Mario Kart’s latest expansion below.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 5 DLC release date

As always, you can gain access to the new tracks and characters by heading to the Nintendo eShop and buying the Booster Course Pass. Alternatively, you can get the DLC for free instead by getting a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 5 DLC characters

Nintendo has already announced the three new characters that are arriving with the Wave 5 DLC. In addition to the infamous Kamek, the other two returning figures should also be familiar to series veterans as they’ve previously been featured in past Mario Kart iterations. Here they all are:

  • Kamek
  • Petey Piranha
  • Wiggler

Petey Piranha, the beloved mutant Piranha Plant, was first featured in Mario Kart Double Dash on the Gamecube so classic fans were pleasantly surprised upon this character’s reveal during the showcase. Wiggler the yellow caterpillar, on the other hand, is another equally adored member of the roster that was last seen in Mario Kart 7 for the Nintendo 3DS. Finally, Kamek is the most recent character to be featured in the series along with Petey Piranha as both were included in Mario Kart Tour.

If you want to check out all of these characters in action, then we recommend taking a look at Nintendo’s high-octane teaser trailer.
