As you transition your settlement to a small town and beyond in Manor Lords, your population will grow hungry for more exotic commodities, including Clothes, Cloaks, and Shoes. Clothes are vital to meeting the upgrade requirements for level 2 and level 3 burgage plots, so you’ll have to meet your citizens needs at some point. You can import these at a Trading Post, but that requires Regional Wealth, so you’re better off manufacturing them at home.

As with most things in Manor Lords, producing clothes isn’t as straightforward as gathering herbs, for example, and requires several steps to set up the correct production chain. We’ll walk you through how to make clothes, cloaks, and shoes in Manor Lords and keep your citizens sporting the latest garms.

✓ Quick Answer

How do you make Clothes Manor Lords?

To make Clothes, Cloaks, and Shoes in Manor Lords, you’ll need a source of Leather, Linen, Yarn, and Dyes, either manufactured or imported. These are then processed into Clothes, Cloaks, and Shoes at Tailor’s Shop and Cobbler’s Shop level 2 burgage plot extensions.

Understanding how Clothes work in Manor Lords

Before we dive into the granular process of producing Clothes, it’s worth understanding that Clothes in Manor Lords is used as a blanket term for several different commodities and crafting materials, as follows:

When you select a burgage plot and view the requirements, under Market Supply you’ll see Clothing Stall Supply. This is basically of indicator of what types of clothing are available at the nearest Marketplace. Once you upgrade a burgage plot to level 2, you’ll see two diamonds next to Clothing Stall Supply. The first diamond denotes raw crafting resources (Linen, Leather, Yarn), while the second refers to actual Clothes commodities (Shoes, Clothes, and Cloaks).

Both are considered Clothes and contribute to keeping your citizens happy and boosting your Approval. As you expand your settlement, you’ll need to ensure a burgage plot has access to Marketplace Clothing Stalls that sells one or both types if you want to upgrade the house to level 2 and then level 3, respectively.

Basic resources – Leather, Linen, Yarn, Dyes

To make clothes in Manor Lords, the first step is to produce the basic resources needed to produce clothes – Leather, Linen, Yarn, Dyes. We’ll lean on a table here as the process can get quite complex.

MaterialRequired ResourcesRequired Buildings
LeatherHides – produced by Goat Shed burgage plot extensions and Hunting Camps.– Tannery – turns hides in Leather.
LinenFlax – grown in Fields with the Crop Type set to Flax.– Farmhouse – sows and harvests Flax.
– Flax Field – grows Flax.
– Weaver Workshop – turns Flax into Linen.
YarnWool – collected from grazing sheep at from Sheep Farms. Sheep needed to be imported using the Livestock Trader buildingWeaver Workshop – turns Wool in Yarn.
DyesBerries – gathered from Berry Deposits by Forager Hut workers.Dyer’s Workshop – converts Berries into Dyes.

Leather, Yarn, and Dyes production is pretty self-explanatory and they are easy enough to come by. Linen is the most complicated to produce as you effectively require three types of buildings – Farmhouse, Field (not technically a building but play along for simplicity’s sake), and Weaver Workshop.

Build and staff a Farmhouse, then lay down one or several Flax Fields, making sure to use the overlay to find the most fertile spot. We recommend aiming for between 4-5 Flax Fields with a size of around 1 Morgen and having a year-on year-off crop rotation. The Sheepherding development upgrade is also worth having as you can then fence up your fields and use sheep to raise fertility. The Heavy Plow development upgrade is a solid investment as well because it allows you to employ an oxen at your Farmhouse to speed up plowing and harvesting.

As with other resources and commodities, Linen, Yarn, Leather, and Dyes are kept in Storehouses so make sure you have one, ideally a Large Storehouse, to house them. You can upgrade to a Large Storehouse by clicking on the Storehouse and tapping the upgrade icon.

Manufacturing Clothes, Cloaks, and Shoes

Now that you’ve got a steady supply of Linen, Yarn, Dyes, and Leather, it’s time to make some Clothes in Manor Lords. Firstly, you’ll need to level up several burgage plots to level 2, which unlocks advanced extension upgrades. The extensions we’re interested are the Tailor’s Workshop, which produces Clothes, Cloaks, and Gambisons (used exclusively by military units) and the Cobbler’s Workshop, which makes Shoes. You can select these by clicking on a burgage plot, then the hammer symbol and selecting them from the list of options. Both cost x5 Regional Wealth and x5 Planks.

As long as you have Linen, Leather, Dyes, and Yarn in your Storehouse(s) and the burgage plots are inhabited, the extensions will automatically produce the clothing. However, for the Tailor’s Workshop, you’ll need to select whether you want it to produce Clothes, Cloaks, or Gamisons. To do this, click on the burgage plot, go to General, then select what you want to make under Production Focus.

Once again, we’ll jump to a table to highlight how production works:

Clothes TypeExtension TypeRequired Resources
ClothesTailor’s Workshopx1 Linen and x1 Dyes = x1 Clothes
CloaksTailor’s Workshopx1 Yarn and x1 Dyes = x1 Cloaks
ShoesCobbler’s Shopx1 Leather = x1 Shoes

Once the Tailor’s Workshop and Cobbler’s Shop starting producing clothes, they’ll be transported to Storehouses, then on to Clothing Stalls, and finally distributed to burgage plots in proximity to the Marketplace. As long as a burgage plot has two types of clothing, Ale, and meets the other requirements, you can upgrade it to level 3.
