EA is back with Madden NFL 16, the next entry in America’s most popular sport.
EA promises a host of improvements both on offence and defence to make this year’s entry better than anything that’s come before, much like what was said with Madden 15, and the Madden before that.
This year brings a new feature called ‘Air Supremacy’, which introduces new user and AI mechanics on both sides of the ball to improve passing and catching. The interaction between wide receiver and defensive back has seen an overhaul which should create more realistic and interesting moments on the field.
Hundreds of new handoff animations have been added for the quarterback, with different ones crafted for each type of play, as well as reworked locomotion for the way the QB moves in and out of the pocket. But EA also warns that CPU AI of the QB is more intelligent, so we can expect tougher matches to boot.
On the defensive side, Madden hopes to deliver the best tackles in the series. Hopefully we won’t see the glitch-ridden collisions of previous entries, no matter how hilarious they may be.
Madden NFL 16 launches on PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360 on August 28.
