Courtesy of some technical wizardry, a conservative helping of graphical downgrades, and some wildly fluctuating frame rates, Kingdom Come Deliverance finally made its way onto Nintendo Switch in early 2024. With the upcoming release of the highly anticipated sequel, it begs the question of whether Saber Interactive will repeat the feat and bring Kingdom Come Deliverance to Nintendo’s aging console.

The short answer is that we currently don’t know, but the chances are pretty slim given the graphical demands of the sequel and the Switch’s aging hardware. In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything we know about Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 coming to Nintendo Switch.

Is Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 releasing on Switch?

As it stands, there’s been no official confirmation from Warhorse Studios that Kingdom Come Deliverance is or isn’t coming to Nintendo Switch. Nintendo’s console hasn’t been mentioned in any press releases or official trailers, but nor was it during the first game’s early years. It wasn’t until 2021 that a port was announced and not until March 2024 that it finally released for Switch players. What this means is that there’s some hope that the game will maybe, possibly come to Switch in a few years time.

However, the odds are somewhat stacked against a Switch port. Kingdom Come Deliverance is a substantially larger and more ambitious game, not to speak of the major graphical upgrade it brings along with. To expect the game in an enjoyable state without a major, significant downgrades seems beyond the hardware capabilities of Nintendo’s plucky hybrid console. The demands would have a good chance of pushing frame rates so low as to make the game unplayable. Naturally, this is all conjecture.

Saber Interactive, the developer behind the KCD Switch release is known to cook up magic. There’s a small chance they may figure out a way to mitigate the higher demands of the sequel without too much of a hit to fidelity compared to the other versions of the game. What is more likely is a release on Nintendo’s Switch 2, heavily-rumored for release in 2025. An upgrade to the underlying hardware may be sufficient to power KCD 2, albeit with the same tweaks and performance trade-offs as the original. Again, no official confirmation on that front so take this with a pinch of salt.
