Finding Mutt will set you off on a long trudge from the fisherman to a shepherd lamenting the loss of his sheep to a curious wolf pack said to include wild dogs. The shepherd will kindly donate one of his rams, Ignatius, to act as bait to lure out the wolf pack so that Henry can kill them. While reaching the slope and the birch trees is easy enough, it can be tricky figuring out how and where to put the carrot. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to place the bait near the birches on the slope in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
How to put down the bait
To place the bait near the birches, you’ll need to open up your inventory, head to the food tab, and select the carrot the shepherd gave you, then drop it. Ignatius will automatically come over and start gnawing on the vegetable. It doesn’t matter where you drop the carrot as long as it’s near the birch trees and you’ve unlocked either the ‘place the bait near the birches on the slope’ or ‘lead poor Ignatius to the britches on the slope’ quest objectives.
It’s worth placing it to the east of the birches. This will be closer to Henry’s hiding spot in the thicket, allowing you to reach the wolves quicker once they appear. Once Ignatius starts eating the carrot, head to the hiding place (tap L Alt to hone in on the spot), then wait for the wolves to show up. Turns out the pack consists of two wolves and a wild dog. Deal with all three (you may need to chase them down to kill them), then head back to the Herdsboy Siegfried down the hill.
He’ll thank you for your help and suggest you talk to the gamekeeper who lives down the hill to the southwest. He appears on the map as Huntsman Vostatek, though, he isn’t home and talking to him involves a whole quest of its own.
