The original Kingdom Come Deliverance suffered from numerous bugs and performance issues making it a testing beast to wrangle into any sort of playable state for many at launch. After having spent over a hundred hours with Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, we’re happy to report that it’s a much more polished piece of work. Thanks to some heavy optimisation work from developer Warhorse there are less issues, fewer bugs, and less crashes – we only experienced three in 125 hours.
Your mileage will naturally vary depending on your setup and hardware, but for most players it shouldn’t be too hard to get reliably smooth frame rates and reliable overall performance. In that spirit, we’ve pulled together this guide covering the best settings for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. In the spirit of transparency, we used a PC with a RTX 3070 GPU, Ryzen 5 3600, and 16GB. A positively mid-range build that neither boasts top of the range hardware nor bottom-of-the-barrel potato specs.

With these settings, we stuck to a solid 65-75 FPS range for the majority of the game at 1080p, with drops to around 50 FPS in busy city environments with lots of NPCs, notably in the bustling city of Kuttenberg in the second half of the game. Overall, these settings were pretty consistent and reliable.
If you’re running an older graphics card or plan on using 1440p or even 4K, don’t hesitate to lower the overall image quality to High or even Medium, then tweaking individual settings to see where you’re draining FPS then adjusting as necessary. There are, however, diminishing returns to this and if you have an older CPU, there’s not much you can do beyond a certain point.
