Is Pokémon TCG Pocket going to be free? Since there’s already a free ‘Mon trading card game, you’d be right in asking if Pokemon TCG Pocket is also going to be free.

While it looks like the Pokemon TCG Pocket release date is still far off, there’s no reason not to be thinking about the price of the upcoming game. Other TCG games, like MTG Arena, Yu Gi Oh Master Duel, Marvel Snap, and even Pokémon TCG Live, are all free games. Can we expect the same treatment from the latest mobile game?

Will Pokémon TCG Pocket be free?

So far, it’s looking incredibly likely that Pokémon TCG Pocket is going to be free. According to the official announcement website, “you will be able to open two booster packs every day at no cost.” This seems to suggest that the bar for entry for the TCG Pocket game is going to be cost-free.

There will likely be microtransactions involved, as is the DNA of mobile games these days. Microtransactions will likely include packs, individual cards, and potentially ‘Crystals‘ as seen in Pokémon TCG Live. In that game, you can use Crystals to save up for the Battle Pass, though it pays off in the sense that you’ll earn more Crystals with the BP.

How much will packs be in Pokémon TCG Pocket?

Since Pokémon TCG Pocket draws inspiration from Marvel Snap, you can expect a similar structure to the game as the Marvel-themed card battler. Currently, Marvel Snap’s Season Pass costs $9.99, and if we’re expecting the TCG Pocket game to compete with it, expect a similar price for the Battle Pass. Similarly, Marvel Snap bundles are priced anywhere between $15 – $100, and you can expect similar prices from Pokemon TCG Pocket.

We’ll keeping an eye out for the latest updates on Pokémon TCG Pocket launch, including what The Pokémon Company say about specific pricing. As we wait for the Temporal Forces card list to be revealed ahead of its release date, we’re hoping that Pokemon TCG Pocket releases before then.
