Fans of the fighting games genre have been spoiled this year with juggernauts such as Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1. So, with how good of a year it’s been for the fighting community, it’s only befitting that 2023 ends with arguably the masters of the fighting games genre, Arc System Works. Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising is now out in early access format, and the extra good news is that there is crossplay and cross-platform multiplayer between PS4, PS5, and PC.

Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising officially comes out on December 14th, but you can get early access today by purchasing the more expensive Deluxe edition for £61.99. It’s another fighting game involving Arc System Works who are famous for gems like Guilty Gear Strive and DNF Duel, and it bears the gorgeous 2D visual art style fans of Arc System Works are all too familiar with.

It is a fantastic game to close out 2023 for PlayStation and PC users, and these fans can battle one another in crossplay and cross-platform multiplayer.

Is Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising cross-platform?

Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising does support crossplay between PS4, PS5, and PC Steam. Not only is there cross-platform multiplayer for Casual, Ranked, and Lobby matches, but there is also crossplay for Grand Bruise Legends. This is a fun 30-person mini-games mode where the character roster are turned into cute chibis.

Below are all the game modes in GFVR:

  • Arcade
  •  Story
  •  Online casual
  •  Online ranked
  • Training Mode
    •  Grand Bruise Legends Rising Royale
    •  Gold Brick Hoarder
    •  Blast King
    •  Golem Defense Force

In addition to cross-platform multiplayer between PlayStation and PC, there is also a rollback netcode from day one. This should result in a smooth experience with as little latency as possible. It has become a must for the fighting games genre, and it’s especially crucial for Arc System Works games because of how fast and precise inputs need to be.
