InZOI has recently launched on PC, and many players are already wondering about multiplayer in the new life sim. While the game is out in Early Access on Steam, the lengthy roadmap offers a glimpse into what the future holds. One of the most commonly asked questions, however, concerns the possibility of multiplayer being added to the game. Let’s see what are the prospects of that coming true.
Is there a multiplayer mode in inZOI?
At present, inZOI does not feature multiplayer. However, there is a strong indication that multiplayer functionality will be added in the future. Several developers have hinted at this possibility in interviews and on the game’s official Discord server.
In the FAQ section of the inZOI Discord, it is stated that “We are currently considering various multiplayer features, such as the ability to meet up with other online players or invite them over to your home. But specific details have not been decided.” Additionally, game director Hyungjun Kim mentioned during a showcase that, “If we get a lot of feedback and demands from our players on multiplayer, then maybe we could get more specific ideas and start implementing them.”
This suggests that multiplayer is a potential future feature for inZOI, depending on player demand. Unsurprisingly, within hours of the game’s launch, numerous requests for a multiplayer mode or functionality have already been made, so there’s a high likelihood that it’s already on the devs’ radar.
For comparison, The Sims series currently lacks official multiplayer, except for through mods. However, multiplayer is in development for The Sims 4, with EA prioritizing this over creating an entirely new game. Project Rene, an evolution of The Sims, was announced by EA several years ago. Therefore, if inZOI introduces multiplayer before The Sims, it could have a competitive advantage over the long-running franchise. And that’s not the only point of contention between the two life sim games.
Currently, the running Play Together event offers players free rewards for using referral links to play inZOI, leading many to believe they can play with their friends.
