Not all relationships are meant to last happily ever after. That’s as true in the real world as it is in inZOI. Perhaps you need a break from your current partner and want to break things off. Or, your Zoi is already married, but things are not working out between you two. There can be any number of reasons, but one thing’s for sure – it may be time to move on. So how do you break up or file for divorce in inZOI? We’re here to help (and offer a shoulder to cry on if need be).
How to break up in inZOI?
First, let’s establish a few ground rules. When you start a relationship in inZOI, your Zoi can still flirt with other Zois. This won’t (currently at least, this may be changed in the future) won’t affect your status with anyone you’re already dating. Because of that, there is no simple button to end a romantic relationship in the game as long as you’re not married.

However, if you still want to decrease the romance bar so that you are not Sweethearts any more, then you can opt for negative interactions. In essence, you have to try to annoy the other Zoi to the point where they’re no longer romantically interested in each other. Your best bet is to use dialogue about topics they don’t like, or simply use the Conflict category. Note that this will also affect your friendship as well – once you’re dating, the two bars go hand in hand. Other than that, you can’t simply select an option to break up a relationship, unlike a divorce when your Zois are married.
How to get a divorce in inZOI?
You can divorce your Zoi-spouse by selecting a dialogue option to do it. Click on them and choose More to open more options. From there, go to Conflict and select Divorce. Thankfully, there’s no lengthy process. Instead, the Zois will be divorced immediately and suffer a relationship penalty – although some family-oriented Zois are able to refuse the offer. Either way, their status will turn into “Terrible Relationship” and both will have a +5 Sad moodlet lasting two days. This can easily result in negative Karma for the whole city.
Yes, you can re-marry the same Zoi. However, you’ll have to rebuild the relationship from scratch. Both Zois will have to make the effort to grow close once more, then the usual dating rules apply until you’re ready to get married again.
Once you’re divorced, you can freely pursue other Zois and even marry them fairly soon after. The same steps apply as with dating and marrying the first time. Remember that you can be married to only one Zoi, barring any mods that you’re using, so a divorce is the only option if someone else has caught your Zoi’s eye.
