How do you use Incantations in Elden Ring?

Using Incantations in Elden Ring is extremely simple. To begin, you need an Incantation you can cast, and in order to cast it you will need a Sacred Seal. These are basically catalysts that allow you to use magic in Elden Ring.

  • To use an Incantation in Elden Ring, players will need to equip an item called a Sacred Seal. While multiple Sacred Seals can be acquired throughout your journey in the Lands Between, the easiest way to get one is to either begin the game as a Prophet or Confessor or to buy one from the Twin Maiden husks at the Roundtable Hold.
  • Aside from Sacred Seals, players are required to have incantations in their inventory that they can equip. Incantations can be found throughout Elden Ring and can be bought from multiple vendors, such as Brother Corhyn at the Roundtable Hold. To equip an Incantation, rest at a Site of Grace, head to memorize spell and equip the incantations you want.
  • Once these steps are complete, equip your Sacred Seal in your left or right hand, equip the Incantation by pressing the up button on your D-Pad, and press L1 or R1 (depending on which hand has the Sacred Seal equipped) to cast the Incantation.
  • Every Incantation will have some faith requirement; the higher the faith requirement of an Incantation, the more powerful it will be.
  • Only a limited amount of Incantations can be equipped at one time. This amount depends on the number of Memory slots a player has. These slots can be discovered throughout the game world, and increase the number of Incantations you can carry.

What are the benefits of using Incantations in Elden Ring?

Incantations can be of multiple kinds, from attacking Incantations, to defense-based Incantations. To Incantations that can heal your or allies significantly. The large variety of Incantations in the game is enough to allow for a diverse selection that can cover basically every aspect of combat in the game: attack, defense, and support.

Incantations can also be used by several builds: From melee-heavy builds using the occasional Incantation for defensive purposes or a buff to builds that rely solely on Incantations. When used effectively, almost all players can benefit from using Incantations in Elden Ring and they are a great way to enhance gameplay. Some of the most powerful Incantations deal devastating amounts of damage when used by a high-faith build.

What Are The Best Incantations to Use in Elden Ring?

When it comes to Elden Ring Incantations, not all of them are born equally. These are our picks for some of the best Incantations in Elden Ring.

Golden Vow

Golden Vow is a powerful Incantation, requiring 47 Focus Points per use. This is, however, paid off in multiples given how useful the Incantation is. Golden Vow increases both attack and defense for a player and their allies. This is essential for an attack-focused build that stays close such as a Quality build or a Hybrid build. The increase in attack and defense can be the difference between life or death during tougher encounters.

Great Heal

As the name suggests, Great Heal greatly restores ones health in Elden Ring. It also heals nearby allies. This spell is excellent for hybrids, and pure faith builds with a lot of FP on them, for it is a great alternative to healing flasks which are limited. Can be crucial during tougher moments.

Lightning Spear

This Incantation can be extremely powerful at higher faith levels. While the premise, you hurling a spear of lightning towards your, is simple, the ease of use and reliability of this Elden Ring Incantation is matched by very few. It’s quick, and can easily kill smaller enemies in one hit.

Barrier of Gold

Barrier of Gold is among the strongest defensive Incantations in Elden Ring. This Incantation greatly reduces the damage you and your allies take from oncoming attacks. This can be extremely effective when facing higher damage enemies such as endgame bosses.
