Minecraft is a blocky game with a giant open world (60 million blocks) and although it looks hard to visit the world’s border, many Minecrafters have already achieved this. Either by patiently walking, using transportation, animals, or even cheating with the teleport mechanic.

In this article, we’ll show you how to teleport in Minecraft in different ways!

What is Teleport in Minecraft?

To understand teleport, you must know about Minecraft’s coordinates. They’re a set of Z, Y, and Z numbers that represent a specific location in the Minecraft world. For example, let’s say you just create a new world and spawn in 0 70 0 coordinates. That’s the first block on the X and Z axis, and the 70th block on the Y axis.

Depending on where you’re facing, if you run forward, you will see your X (or Z) coordinate increase. If you run backward, the coordinate will be decreased. And they can have negative values such as -777.

So teleport is considered as appearing in another coordinate immediately (or really fast). You may dig a really deep hole and jump in to fall all the way from the sky to the deepslate layers. But that’s not teleporting because it may take a second and more. We call this “fast traveling”, but still, many people may call it teleporting.

How to Teleport in Minecraft

There are 4 ways to teleport in Minecraft including using ender pearl, using commands, using command blocks, or using Minecraft mods. Let’s take a look at them!

#1 Teleport using Ender Pearl

You can get ender pearls from killing the enderman, looting chests in stronghold structures, trading with the cleric villagers, or bartering with the piglins. For your information, most Minecraft speedrunners barter with the piglins for ender pearls.

When you have the ender pearl, put it in your hot bar and choose that slot. Then look at the direction you want to teleport and right-click. This action will throw the ender pearl away and you will be teleported to wherever it lands. So remember to aim higher than usual (like shooting a bow) for a farther teleport distance.

#2 Teleport using Minecraft Commands

Commands are a powerful tool in Minecraft that allows you to do literally anything. But in this article, we’ll focus on the teleport command.

To use commands in Minecraft, make sure you have access to the creative mode when you first created the world. Or you can open your single world to LAN and enable cheat mode. When you’re done, press T or Enter to open chat and start typing the following commands:

  • /tp 150 70 150 – This will teleport you to this particular coordinate.
  • /tp firstPlayerName secondPlayerName – This will teleport the first player to the second player’s location.
  • /tp @a @s – This will teleport all players in the world to the player who executing this command, or you in this case.
  • /tp 150 ~ 150 – Teleport you to the 150th block on the X and Z axis and retain the Y axis.
  • /tp 777 ~15 777 – Teleport you to the 777th block on the X and Z axis but with a Y higher than your current Y axis 15 blocks.

Above are just a few examples. You can use /teleport instead of /tp.

There are a lot of commands and parameters for teleportation in Minecraft. Besides direct numbers and the “~” character, below are 5 main parameters to use:

  • @p – Target the nearest player
  • @r – Target a random player
  • @a – Target all players
  • @e – Target all entities
  • @s – Target the one who executes the command (It may be you, other admin players, or even the game system)

#3 Teleport using Command Blocks

Just like teleport using commands, this method requires a command block in order to work. Instead of typing the command yourself in the chat box, you need to type the command in the Command Block’s interface, and that’s it!

Then, you have to activate or run the command block using any kind of Redstone signals such as a button press, a pressure plate, a Redstone torch, or Redstone dust with a button,… You get the idea. All the commands in the block should work normally, except for the @s parameter because it will target the command block and its location instead.

#4 Teleport using Minecraft Mods

There are plenty of awesome Minecraft teleport mods out there that allow you to quickly teleport to your desired location. Some of them are super famous such as the Waystones mod, Telepad mod, or the Portal Gun mod.

And that’s all 4 ways to teleport in Minecraft! The first method is vanilla friendly and doesn’t require cheating so you can try it without any guilt. While the other three may require access to the creative mode or installing new mods, which is not vanilla-friendly. So this is up to you! And happy teleporting!
