Material to Make Smooth Stone in Minecraft

Smooth Stone is the smooth version of a normal Stone block in Minecraft. With a cleaner texture and renewable ability, Smooth Stone is a great material for building purposes. Especially for huge farms and modern buildings.

To make Smooth Stone, you will need:

  • 1 Pickaxe (any tier)
  • 1 Furnace
  • 1 Stone
  • 1 Fuel item (Stick, Planks, or Coal)

How to Make Smooth Stone in Minecraft

Step 1: Craft a Furnace

Assuming you already know how to chop wood, craft a Crafting Table, and a Wooden Pickaxe. The next step is to craft a Furnace, which will require 8 total blocks of Cobblestones, Blackstone, or Cobbled Deepslate.

Cobblestone is the most basic block in the game. You can obtain it by breaking a stone block, which is a grey block that normally spawns underground, in caves, or exposed to the mountainside.

Cobblestone can also be found in generated structures such as dungeons, pillager outposts, ruins, strongholds, jungle temples, woodland mansions, and villages.

You can make a Cobblestone Generator machine to infinitely generate cobblestone for your sake.

On another hand, Blackstone can be found in specific biomes in the Nether dimension. They’re described as Cobblestone variations but in the Nether. Piglins bartering also gives 8-16 Blackstone with an 8.71% chance.

Last but not least, Cobbled Deepslate. This is another variation of Cobblestone and can only be found deep underground (below Y level 0).

When you have a total of 8 blocks, right-click a Crafting Table and put the stones in follow the recipe above to craft a Furnace.

Step 2: Obtain Stone

There are two main ways to get Stone in Minecraft. You can mine a Stone block using a pickaxe with a Silk Touch enchantment. If you don’t have Silk Touch, it will drop a Cobblestone block instead.

If you don’t have Silk Touch, you can use the Furnace in step 1 to smelt the Cobblestone, which will give you 1 Stone block in return.

Step 3: Smelt Stone in the Furnace

When you have a Stone block, put it in the Furnace again on the top slot. Then put a fuel item in the bottom slot. Soon enough, you will receive your Smooth Stone block in the rightmost slot.

Alternatively, you can find Smooth Stone generate naturally in the village but the chance is super low. And you only receive 1 block this way.
