Beacon is an end-game block in Minecraft that can provide powerful effects to nearby players. Therefore, making one is not that easy. And this article will show you a step-by-step guide on how to make a beacon in Minecraft!

4 steps to make a Beacon in Minecraft

#1 Collect 5 Glass

The easiest way to obtain glass in Minecraft is to smelt sand or red sand in the furnace. Sand can be found in the desert biome, near rivers, lakes, or under the ocean. While red sand can only be found in the badlands and its variant biomes. Each sand block will give you 1 glass when smelted.

Alternatively, you can find glass generate naturally in ancient cities and woodland mansions. But it’s really risky to find glass this way. Also, librarian villagers have a large chance to sell 4 glasses for only 1 emerald so this is another great option to get glasses.

#2 Collect 3 Obsidian

Obsidian is a dark purple block formed when a lava source is touched by any water. Whether it’s the water source block or the flowing water. You can also find obsidian spawn clearly in many structures such as ruined portals, woodland mansions, ocean ruins, and obsidian pillars in the End dimension.

To mine them, you need to use a diamond or netherite pickaxe. And if mining is not an option for you, try looking for obsidian in chests spawned in bastion remnants, nether fortresses, ruined portals, and even villages.

Another good way to get a lot of obsidian is by bartering with the piglins. They have an 8.71% chance to give 1 obsidian when you give them 1 gold ingot.

#3 Obtain 1 Nether Star

Nether star is a unique and end-game item that can only be obtained by beating the Wither boss – one of the hardest mobs to fight in Minecraft. The Wither always drops 1 nether star on death and this amount can’t be increased with the Looting III enchantment.

#4 Make a Beacon

When you have all the materials, right-click the crafting table and put the nether star in the middle grid. Then put a row of obsidian in the bottom line, and fill the rest with glasses to craft 1 beacon.

To actually use a beacon in Minecraft, you will need more than this. But congratulation!
