There are countless amounts of Pokemon that trainers will get to meet throughout their adventures. With the Paldean Pokedex alone, there are around four hundred Pokemon you can meet in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. However, you will only ever be able to carry six of them at you at any given time for your personal team.

That calls for the players to pack the remaining Pokemon away in their respective Storage Boxes. Players who continue to collect Pokemon may find that they may reach their maximum capacity, at which point they will need to look for additional Pokemon Storage Boxes. There is no need to be concerned because acquiring additional Pokemon Storage Boxes is a very quick and easy process.

Pokemon Storage Boxes

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet more Pokémon Boxes

Whenever you capture a Pokemon, it usually goes into your team. However, as was said earlier, Trainers are only allowed a total of six Pokemon at any given time. The next time you capture a Pokemon while you have a full party, that Pokemon will be placed in a Pokemon Storage Box immediately after being captured.

These Pokemon Storage Boxes can easily be accessed by opening your menu and heading into the portion that says “Boxes”. Originally, you will only have a total of eight storage boxes at the start. Each box has a capacity to hold 30 Pokemon. While this will provide you with enough space to store around a total of 240 Pokemon, it’s actually possible to increase your storage space.

First, you will have to put at least one Pokemon in every available box. Then you simply have to exit out of the Boxes menu and then reopen it. Once you do so, you’ll notice that the total number of boxes has increased to sixteen. Proceed to place at least one Pokemon in the vacant boxes again, exit the storage screen and head back in again.

You’ll then see that your Pokemon storage has expanded to a total of thirty two boxes! This is the maximum amount of storage you can achieve in the game, placing Pokemon into the vacant boxes will not increase their amount anymore. You probably also don’t need more boxes as the thirty boxes give you the space to house a total of 960 Pokemon!

Some Trainers fill their Pokemon Storage Boxes with one of each Pokemon species, treating it similar to a display for their Pokedex. While other trainers enjoy hatching or catching multiples of their favorite Pokemon. Players can do whatever they want with their provided space.

Should the point ever come that players fully populate their Pokemon Storage Boxes, their next options will be to use some Pokemon related apps such as Pokemon Home or Pokemon Bank.

Final Thoughts

Pokemon Storage Boxes are a handy tool for organizing your Pokemon or to house them for collectors and hoarders alike. While it is sad that there’s a limit to the amount of boxes you can have, the capacity to house 960 Pokemon is not something to belittle. It may take a while for you to reach that limit so go wild and capture all the Pokemon you want on your adventures!
