How to Get and Use Ex-Caliber Rifle in Fortnite

Each new season of Fortnite begins with new places to explore, great Battle Pass rewards to redeem, and new weapons to use and Chapter 4 Season 1 is no different. One particular weapon stands out among all of the other ones currently available. Its rarity and power has numerous players asking the following question: How to get and use Ex-Caliber Rifle in Fortnite?

You may already be familiar with The Ageless, or Geno as the Fortnite community likes to call him. Not only is he the most valuable Battle Pass reward in Chapter 4 Season 1, but he’s also waiting to fight players as an NPC boss in The Citadel.

Besides the Shockwave Hammer and Guardian Shield, he also has the Ex-Caliber Rifle, the coolest weapon in the game. Although this rifle uses shotgun ammunition, it shoots a sword that pierces its target and then explodes. Unlike other weapons, it also does not have versions with a low rarity.

How to Get Ex-Caliber Rifle in Fortnite?

Inspired by the legendary sword, Excalibur, wielded by the legendary historical figure King Arthur, there are a total of four versions of this weapon in Chapter 4. You can find three of them when looting, but for the Mythic version you’ll have to kill The Ageless in The Citadel.

Here are all the Ex-Caliber Rifles and the damage they deal in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1:

• Rare Ex-Caliber Rifle: 45 Damage – 27.9 DPS – 5.2 Second Reload
• Epic Ex-Caliber Rifle: 55 Damage – 34.1 DPS – 5.05 Second Reload
• Legendary Ex-Caliber Rifle: 65 Damage – 40.3 DPS – 4.9 Second Reload

You can find these three versions on the new Fortnite map. All three spawn from standard chests, but it is very unlikely that you will find them there, especially the Legendary version. For that, you can try your luck with Oathbound Chests.

Note that you can only find the Rare version as ground loot, and only the Epic and Legendary versions come from Supply Drops. And if you attack Geno with all your might and take his mythic version? Then your power will really increase:

How to Use Ex-Caliber Rifle in Fortnite?

This majestic rifle works a little differently than other standard weapons in the game. Though you can aim and fire it like any other weapon normally, the Ex-Caliber Rifle launches a shiny sword instead of the standard bullet. It lodges itself in everything that it’s shot at and explodes after a few seconds.

It does the above damage on first contact and repeats that damage again at the moment of explosion. In other words, a sword that pierces your enemies can do 120 damage, not 60. Also, if you manage to land a headshot, your damage will be multiplied by 2.5.

Additionally, if you choose Bloodhound as one of your Reality Augments, this weapon will be even more useful since you’ll be able to see your opponents for an extended amount of time.
