God of War Ragnarok Creatures of Prophecy Walkthrough

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the Creatures of Prophecy main path mission in God of War Ragnarok. Kratos and Freya head to Vanaheim to free Freyr.

Creatures of Prophecy features some major story beats that you may want to experience first hand. We’ve done out best to avoid big spoilers, but for the sake of clarity and guiding your through the mission, there are some unavoidable ones below. Tread carefully.

Find Skoll and Hati

Follow the path and squeeze through the crawl space. Take down the enemies in the clearing then crawl under the wood structure on the right.

Jump across the gap, up to the ledge, and jump down to take on a group of Nokken and Gulon. Spear the weak point on the structure on the left, then climb up and across to reach a Legendary chest containing the Leviathan’s Roar heavy runic attack for the axe.

Head through the gap in the tree at the back of the area where you just fought the Nokken to emerge into the Eastern Barri Woods.

Follow the path, then spear the weak point on the right.

Head forward a few steps, then look back to find one of Odin’s Ravens perched in a tree on your left. Go right, sigil/burn the vines, fight off the Nokken and Gulon then loot the red coffin chest. 

Head left to a crossroads then go left to pick up The Aesir Promise lore scroll on the ground. Follow the path up to find a Nornir chest.

The first rune spinner is just left of the runes containing the chest and wrapped in vines. Burn them then axe the spinner so that it shows the p-like rune.

The second rune spinner is immediately left of the chest itself – turn it to the f-like rune.

The third spinner is down the path left of the chest and in the distance in another ruin. Take out the Wulver then spin it to the c–like rune. Return to the chest to grab a Horn of Blood Mead.

Backtrack to the crossroads and take the right-hand path. Push forward to meet the Celestial Wolves.

Recover the Stolen Moon

Shimmy along the ledge and continue forward until you hit the purple mist.

Sigil the plant and then plant an axe in it to freeze it. Do the same for the second plant and then take on the Einherjar. Pull down the barricade with the Blades.

Enter the ruins and grab the Verdant Rune Read on the left-hand wall. 

Grapple down and across to the hut, then go left. Loot the red coffin then climb up the ledge and use the spear to create a zip line to the other side of the water. Spear and detonate the weak point in the wall ahead and go through. Fend off the ambush of Einherjar then drop down to the lowest level of the arena by kicking down a chain.

Pursue the Einherjar Thief

Follow the thief up and through the now-broken wall then fight off the second ambush. On the left is a small balcony jutting out over the water. Stand there and throw a spear at the wind notch on the red monument wrapped in vines.

While you’re there, take out one of Odin’s Ravens in the large tree on your left. 

Swing across the spear and follow the path bordering the water. You’ll catch a brief glimpse of the thief and have to deal with a third ambush. Spear and detonate the wind notch on the cliff ahead and climb up.

Once at the top, fight off the Wyvern and pick up the stolen moon.

Return to Skoll and Hati

Squeeze through the gap, then spear the wind notch and climb up.

Follow the path, taking out the Einherjar as you go, until you return to the area with the purple mist where you’ll take a right. Press on down the path, shimmy along the ledge, and back into the wolves den. After the cut scene, grab the gift scepter from the wolves.

Return to Freyr’s Camp

Returning to Freyr’s Camp is a case of backtracking the same way you came, except there are Einherjar to slow your progress. Once you’ve squeezed back through the crawl space, fight off the two Dreki and grab a Chaos Flame for the trouble. Climb up the ledge on the right, zip line down, and then back through the crawl space under the tree. Press on, following the path back to Freyr’s Camp.

Rescue Freyr from the Einherjar

Take the left hand path out of the camp, using the spears you planted earlier to reach the beach. Grab the boat and go right, grabbing Yggdrasil’s Dew of Runic Power as you go. Follow the waterway to a beach and dock. Take out the Nightmares ahead and then the Hag further on. Go through the crawl space on your right. Fight off the Einherjar, then lift the rock at the back of the area to move forward.

Walk forward and take the path on the right, where you’ll find a Nokken keeping the other mobs alive. Interact with the Celestial Altar.

Hop down the ledge on the left of the altar and climb up the wall on the right.

Follow the tree branch forward, fight off the Einherjar, and hop over the ledge. Spear the wind notch on the stone slab on the left and loot the red coffin above.

Sigil and axe the purple plant ahead, recall, then axe the second one to clear the mist. Take the right path at the crossroads ahead then squeeze through the gap. Clear out the Einherjar and use the Blades to clear the barricades on the upper level. Push on and enter The Abandoned Village.

On the right is Blatonn. Defeating him gives you the Boon of Valor amulet enchantment and Nar’s Cup. Take the left path into the temple and open the door ahead. Spear the wind notch on the left of the fallen Nidhogg at the end of the walkway and swing across.

Follow the path to reach The Northern Wilds. Pull the chain to open the gate, then step through.

Burn the vines and interact with the Celestial Altar. Prepare for a fight against Heimdall and drop down below.

Defeat Heimdall

During the first phase of the fight, Heimdall will dodge all traditional attacks. The goal is to fill up the red gauge under his health bar. The most efficient way to do this is to plant spears on the ground between you and Heimdall then detonate them as he comes closer. Repeat several times and the fight will transition to a more traditional fight. Heimdall will still dodge some attacks, but you can approach it as you would any other boss fight – dodge and parry as much as possible to find openings to deal damage, and unleash rage if you can. Defeating Heimdall gives you the Hilt of Hofud relic and the Emblem of the Nine Realms amulet enchantment.

Regroup with Freyr’s Allies

Destroy the barricade with the Blades and push forward. Follow the path and meet up with Atreus, Freya, and the others. Fight off all the Einherjar.

Escape from the Prison

Pick up Freyr’s and make your way through the on-rails escape, hitting buttons as they appear on screen. Once you’re safe, you’ll have completed the God of War Ragnarok Creatures of Prophecy quest.
