If you’re excited to play the new Avatar event in Fortnite, then you’re probably looking forward to doing some firebending. In the show, it’s the most powerful element, and that power has certainly transferred over to Fortnite with it being one of the strongest Mythics from the event.

It can take a bit of getting used to, but once you’ve got your hands on a firebending scroll, you’ve got one of the best short-range attacks in the game, so it’s definitely worth trying out. This guide will tell you how to get a firebending scroll and how to use it to help you to those wins during the Avatar event.

How to get firebending in Fortnite

To use firebending in Fortnite, you need to pick up a firebending scroll. There are a few methods to find one, with the easiest being to head to a shrine. On your map, you may see small circular icons that indicate the location of a shrine. Look for one that has a red fire inside the circle, and you’ll be able to get a firebending scroll here.

Be aware, however, that these shrines only have one scroll available. At the start of a match, you might not be the only one who is trying to get that scroll, so you’ll have to be quick or else whoever gets there first is probably going to send you back to the lobby straight away.

Keep an eye out

If you’re too far from a shrine, it may not show up on your map, so keep your eyes peeled for one. If you’re lucky, you could be the only one to spot it and get yourself a free scroll.

Aside from shrines, you can find firebending scrolls in other locations either as floor loot or in chests. They are pretty rare, so it’s not a certainty that you’ll be able to find one. Just keep an eye out for any golden glows and check them out. Even if you don’t get a firebending scroll, you might find one of the other elements instead.

How to use firebending in Fortnite

Firebending will send arcs of fire towards your opponent, with you pushing towards them and unleashing powerful flaming strikes. It’s best used in close-quarters, as while it deals pretty massive damage, it doesn’t have the longest range. Using it next to someone will ensure you land your hits, and make you harder for your opponents to hit too.

If you find yourself above an opponent, you can also use firebending to slam down on them to create a fiery blast. This deals some heavy damage and is a great way to start off an engagement, quickly closing the gap and dealing good initial damage before finishing them off.

A good idea is to bait your opponent into cramped areas like buildings. This will make it difficult for them to dodge your attacks, while also making it hard for them to hit you as you fly around the room while firebending.

How to counter firebending in Fortnite

As we said previously, firebending doesn’t have the best range. If you can put some distance between you and another player who is using it, you should be able to take them down fairly quickly. Just be careful as it does let players move forward fairly fast, so they’ll quickly close the gap on you if you don’t take them down soon enough.

Alternatively, if a player is already too close to you, it’s helpful to have a shotgun to try and deal some good short-range damage. A couple of clean shotgun shots will put an end to even the best firebenders, so it might be worth keeping one on you during this event.
