Here are the best controller settings for Final Fantasy 16, but don’t be fooled, while there’s not much you can change, there’s quite a few things that you’re going to want to know.

We’ve already had a go at settings up the best graphics settings and camera settings in Final Fantasy 16, so these controller configurations will suit them to a tee.

When it comes to action games – so much of the gameplay is tightly tied to how well the controls are organised, alongside your comfort with them. Final Fantasy 16 is no exception to this – so let’s have a look at what controller options are out there, alongside what the controls actually do.

Pictured above are the two different options you can get for controller settings in Final Fantasy XVI. The difference between Type A and B is effectively all down to combat. The first option puts combat into the hands of the buttons, whereas the second arrangement prefers to put combat under the control of the rear triggers and buttons.

We’d recommend the latter arrangement if you’re used to playing Souls-like games, for example, through which attacks are mainly executed with the triggers.

Aside from the basics including movement and interaction, there’s a few things on the controller map which might seem like they’re going to need a little bit of explaining. For example, the Eikonic Feat is an attack which can be used in battle, with a range of different abilities able to take up the slot.

You’re going to be able to cycle through these attacks too, depending on which button has that process bound to it.

Your Limit Break is consistently bound to your L3 and R3 buttons no matter the layout, whereas movement buttons differ from Type A to B. This is certainly something to consider.

We’re going to be keeping our eyes out for the latest updates on the controller settings for Final Fantasy 16, as they very well could change following the end of the Demo and the full launch of the game.
