The ball roll is one of the simplest skills in FC 25, but it’s also probably the most important of them all. It’s so quick and simple to use, and in the right hands, you can glide through opposition defences and open up chances to score the easiest goals of your life, so it’s important that you learn how to use it as early as possible.

That’s why we’re here to help. We’ll take you through what a ball roll is, what the requirements are to use it, and how to perform one in a match so that you can get to dominating games with it yourself – let’s take a look.

Doing a ball roll in FC 25

The ball roll is exactly what it sounds like – rolling the ball. When you use a ball roll, your player will quickly roll the ball to the left or the right, and is a great way of avoiding tackles, approaching defenders, or quickly changing direction to open up a chance for a pass or shot. Luckily, thanks to its simplicity it only requires 2-star skill moves to perform, meaning you can perform it with almost any player, including many goalkeepers.

To perform a ball roll, all you have to do is move the right analogue stick left or right in the direction of travel, and you’ll roll the ball left or right. So, for example, if you’re dribbling from the left side of the pitch to the right side, move the stick up to roll the ball left, and down to roll the ball right – simple!

Ball rolling is an essential skill when it comes to scoring goals as it’s a great way of getting past defenders in tight situations. Next time you’re in the box and there’s a defender between you and the goal, try rolling the ball in one direction to open up a gap for you to shoot through, or potentially even to draw a foul and win a penalty. Our advice is to use ball rolls as much as you can, as they’re one of the most powerful tools in your arsenal.
