It’s all well and good banging in goals with your world-class strikers every game, but those goals mean nothing if you’re conceding even more at the other end, and having a couple of top-notch centre-backs at the heart of your defence is the best way to ensure you’re not constantly shipping easy goals. So if you’re looking to upgrade your defence in your Career Mode save, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve put together a list of the 10 best young CBs in FC 25 for you to take a look at, so no matter what your budget is, there’s going to be a player here for you to check out.

Giorgio Scalvini maintains his position as the top young CB in Career Mode with a potential of 88, though he’s joined this year by Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsi and Ajax’s Jorrel Hato. On the cheaper side of things, we’d recommend checking out Luka Vuskovic from Hajduk Split, a young talent who starts out with a rating of only 64 but can quickly grow to a solid 86 in a few seasons.

Eagle-eyed among you will have spotted that Portuguese club Sporting CB has a whopping four CBs on the list, each of them with a potential rating of 86 or 87. While you could easily buy a couple of them for your own team, you could simply choose to manage them instead, immediately giving you all four from the get-go and guaranteeing that you’ll have one of the game’s strongest defences in only a few seasons’ time – though your neighbours Benfica won’t be worried too much, as Antonio Silva is just as promising.

Just remember that you’ll need a great young right-back and left-back to go with them! Also, check out some of the best formations in FC 25, so your team is never caught off-guard.
