Elden Ring Nightreign’s system requirements tally up pretty tame by modern standards. FromSoftware recommends an Intel Core i5-11500 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600, 16 GB RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX Vega-56. Hardly what you’d call a meaty machine. However, the Japanese developer isn’t known for being the best in the business when it comes to performance. The original Elden Ring was in a rough state in terms of optimisation when it first launched.

After diving in to Limveld for our review, we can confirm that Nightreign is in a better state and overall performance is solid. We’ve pulled together the best PC settings for Elden Ring Nightreign to, hopefully, help you claw back some frames and get reliable performance, too. For transparency, we played on a PC sporting an RTX 3070, Ryzen 5 3600, and 16 GB of RAM, which means we exceeded the GPU requirements but were a bit lacking in the CPU department. We hit 60 FPS at 1080p with only the very occasional dip to the mid 50s during busy boss fights.

Below, we’ll run through all the graphics settings and provide our recommendations. Naturally, you’ll want to make concessions if your PC is struggling or bump up specific settings if you’ve got some breathing room. Overall, unless you’re loading in with a 15-year-old relic long overdue for a trip to the boneyard, then expect to hit very playable frame rates.

For us, fullscreen mode performed best and we found that turning on Auto-Detect Best Rendering Settings helped keep frame rates high and consistent.

Quality Settings

For global Quality Settings, we recommend starting out at Maximum, then working you way backwards down to High if you’re struggling to hit 60 FPS. If you’re still getting issues, don’t hesitate to bump it down to Medium. Those on older machines may also benefit quite a bit from tuning the setting to Low. Once you’ve found a solid starting point, you can then jump to the section below to further tweak individual settings.

Advanced Settings

You’ll want to turn off settings like Motion Blur then tune down SSAO ambient occlusion to medium. The latter’s difference on visuals is negligible so it’s easy way to conserve some performance. We’ve also reduced Shadow Quality to High and toned down Shader Quality and Reflection Quality. If you’re still struggling, lowering Global Illumination Quality and Effects Quality should boost frame rates, even by just bumping them down a notch.

As always, it’s worth keeping in mind that the settings above are subjective and will behave differently depending on the hardware that make up your PC. The rule of thumb is to be prepared to tweak and tinker. Like with any other games, make sure you’re not running any resource intensive apps or programs in the background as these can greatly hamper performance.
