Scoring points is the name of the game in College Football 25, even more so than other football sims. Defense is almost nonexistent, so knowing how to play offense is absolutely vital. While it’s easier to score and get big plays, that is true for every single player. To really get an advantage, you have master the offense and know what to do in any given situation.

Pass, pass, pass

For the most part, passing is going to be your best friend in College Football 25. Running is useful, but it doesn’t really get yards at a fast enough clip. Some running backs are very highly rated. If that’s the case, running is okay, but it might be better to run screens or short routes to get them in space with the ball. We played an exhibition game against a player who ran the ball twice in the entire game and scored 74 points (in triple overtime), so running isn’t necessary.

Control the clock

One of the most important parts of playing offense is to manage the clock. This doesn’t mean running time down and using timeouts at the right time. Instead, it means going hurry-up when it may not make sense to do so. Possessions are valuable, and you need to have the last one. If you’re tied with four minutes left, you need to make sure you score and have enough time to give up a score and get the ball back to win the game.

Get faster

Speed kills in this game. The overall ratings of many players don’t matter that much if they’re fast. A player could be a 78 OVR wide receiver, but if their speed is 94, they’re going to be the most useful player on the field. Find teams and players with a lot of speed and utilise them.

Choose the right plays

Whether it’s the right playbook or just finding the strongest formations within one, you have to have good plays. You, the player, are responsible for how things turn out, but you’ll be in a much stronger position if you call the right plays.

Be sure to use hot routes. If your best receiver is matched up to a lesser cornerback in press coverage, you might want to send them on a fade or fly route since they’ll break press easily and get open for a deep shot. Analyse the defense first, but make adjustments. No one wins without doing that.
