Recruit’s Spear

After the Longsword, the Recruit’s Spear in the second weapon type you’ll get in Dynasty Warriors Origins. Other than having some of the more cinematic attack animations of any weapon so far, it boasts superb range, allowing you to hit and damage more enemies with every attack. Solid base damage means every hit counts, too. It also weaves in more aerial options than other weapons with attacks that make use of its length to gain a height advantage on enemies. It also works extremely-well when riding a horse into battle.

Bladed Hoops

Though a tad gimmicky, the Bladed Hoops are as fun as they are lethal. It’s a dual-wielded weapon consisting of two spinning wheels that you fling at enemies. Better yet, you can stack damage by catching the wheels as they return to you by tapping the triangle button at just the right moment, powering up subsequent attacks. There’s a certain balletic quality to the Bladed Hoops with an acrobatic style tied to most attacks. Though technically a melee weapon, its range makes it versatile in most situations and excels at carving a path through thick groups of enemies.

You can pick up the Bladed Hoops as a mid-battle reward during the Suppression of You Province battle at the start of chapter 2.

  • Triple Tempest
  • Claw of the Predator
  • Palm Strike
  • Whirlwind Kick

As a general rule, you’ll want to ideally get EX variants of your favourite weapon, then play through as many battles with it equipped to raise its level rapidly. Doing so increases attack damage along with its exclusive weapon trait buffs.
