- This error code is due to an unsteady internet connection and tends to show up when major expansions are released.
- To fix it, try rebooting the game, checking Bungie’s updates, waiting for servers, or a VPN.
After 25 hours of waiting for servers to come back online, Destiny 2 players were hit with the Currant error code right as they hopped into the Final Shape expansion. The error quickly ended hopes of taking on new threats right at launch. If you’re still facing this issue, here’s how you can fix it.
What is error code Currant?
Error code Currant occurs when there’s an issue of “interruptions between host and client connections are caused due to circumstances outside of our network.” According to Bungie, this means that it can be a result of “ISP issues, packet loss, complications with various network hardware, [and] Wi-Fi glitches.” While this isn’t a common error, it pops up frequently after the release of a major expansion. Here’s what you can do to resolve it and return to getting exotics.
How to fix error code Currant
Here are some things you can try to resolve this error code:
- Reboot the game or try another connection
- Follow up on Bungie’s social updates
- Wait for the server congestion to be resolved
- Use a VPN to connect from a different location
Reboot the game or try another connection
If the servers aren’t an issue, try restarting the game. This will let you reconnect with the game’s servers. And if your wireless connection is unsteady, try resetting your router or opting for an Ethernet cable. While a wired connection won’t magically improve your internet speed, it can help lower latency and improve general connection stability. Bungie has a network troubleshooting guide for router settings that will come in handy here.
Follow up on Bungie’s social updates
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Bungie Help has confirmed that background maintenance has been performed to help resolve this issue. For more updates like these, follow the official X handle and keep an eye on the Destiny 2 website for updates on Bungie’s servers.
Wait for the server congestion to be resolved
While this isn’t ideal, servers are hit hard right when expansions and major updates drop. Simply waiting for a while and trying again will let you dive right in. It’s not a great fix but it doesn’t take much effort. And since Bungie is usually on top of the server situation, things should return to normal in a couple of hours at most. Once they’re back, you can resume the hunt for Glimmer.
Use a VPN to connect from a different location
If you want to sidestep congested servers and don’t mind taking a hit in latency, consider using a VPN to enter the game from a different region. Since regions are in different timezones, you could try a location where most people would be asleep in their local time. While it’s not ideal for matchmaking, you can rely on an alternate connection to get into the game.
