Looking to get your hands on the silenced sniper in Death Stranding 2? Known in-game as the SL-LW Tranq Sniper Rifle (i.e. SL = silenced, LW= long range), this dome splitter is one of the best weapons you can get your hands to deal with pesky bandits and brigands. It’s non-lethal and can put a target to sleep from hundreds of meters away, making it a prime choice for clearing out camps from a safe distance.

As with most quality weapons, getting the silenced sniper takes some work, but you can get it quite early on in a playthrough with a bit of perseverance and dedication as we found out when reviewing the game. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to get the silenced sniper in Death Stranding 2.

To get the silenced SL-LW Tranq Sniper Rifle, you’ll need to raise your connection level with The Lone Commander in Australia to 5 stars. As a reward, the prepper will gift you the Gear Data for the SL-LW Tranq Sniper Rifle, allowing you to craft it whenever you want moving forward. You’ll find The Lone Commander’s facility to the northeast of The Government’s Base and can reach it early on in Episode 3 Drawbridge.

The best way to reach 5 stars is to complete Sub Orders 100 and 101, as many Standard Orders that end at The Lone Commander’s shelter, and any Aid Requests submitted by the former soldier. Alongside, look out for any Lost Cargo destined for The Lone Commander as you explore then bring these back with as little damage as possible. Here’s a quick list of relevant Orders and Aid Requests:

Order/Aid RequestDescription
Sub Order 100[Breakable Cargo] Deliver the Dismantled Rifle to the Lone Commander
Sub Order 101Recover the Mementos from the BT Area
