After uncovering The Cradle in Saddam’s palace, the gang returns to the Rook hideout to discuss their next move. The CIA is behind an eastern Kentucky-based research centre that’s responsible for cooking up bio-weapon and, more worryingly, letting the recipe slip out into the wild and into Pantheon’s hands. The team is heading to the Advanced Technologies and Applications research facility on US soil to investigate the origin of The Cradle.
In this guide, you’ll find a full walkthrough for the Black Ops 6 campaigns’ sixth mission, Emergence. We’ve broken it down into mission objectives for easier navigation. Use the list on the right to jump straight to them as needed.
Locate Entrance to Biotechnology
As soon as you gain control of Case, advance forward to the elevator shaft and jump down. Things don’t quite go as planned and you’ll fall to the bottom into a pool of water. Swim up then use the ledge to exit the water. Advance forward through the room full of mannequins towards the door with the flashing light.
Find a Tool to Open the door
You’ll need to find a tool to pry open the door. Backtrack towards the ledge. To the right of it, you’ll find a mannequin on the floor with an axe lodged into its side. Grab the axe. Return to the door and pry it open. Take a right down the corridor then a left into a well-lit lobby. Head up the stairs on the right and go through the doors at the top.
Go past the statue of a soldier and a doctor and up the stairs at the back. Press the button to the right of the triangular door at the top. This will spawn several zombie enemies behind you. Kill them as they reach the top of the stairs. Descend the stairs and answer the phone on the reception desk. The call suggests this isn’t Case’s first visit to the facility. You’ll pick up the Facility Map and need to find four Director Keycards to use the elevator up to Biotechnology.
Collect Director Keycards
Head to the Advanced Combat Research wing in the southwest of the map by heading west then up the stairs. Open the door at the top and head inside. Continue forward into the wing, grabbing the cash on the left in the corridor. Interact with the computer on the desk in the room at the end of the corridor to bring up a cypher mini-game. The solution is ACCESS LIFT.
Locate ACR Director Keycard
Solving the cypher will lower the room. Clear out the zombies with the axe then pick up weapons and gear on the right of the area. There’s also a turret you can place to clear out any advancing zombies. Head over to the other side of the room. You’ll spot a mannequin on the scaffolding above holding the keycard.
Acquire ACR Director Keycard
Grab the grappling hook from the body near the blackboard. This will spawn a creature. Complete the quick time event to grapple up to the edge. You’ll now need to kill the creature while also handling waves of enemies. Use the grappling hook to quickly bolt around and lean heavily on grenades to clear out hordes and cause massive damage to the creature. Don’t forget to use the turret strategically as well. Once the creature is down, pick up the keycard. Grapple up the shaft back to the Advanced Combat Research wing then exit through the corridor. An illusory horde of zombies will storm towards you before suddenly disappearing.
Acquire Admin Director Keycard
Head to the Administration wing in the northwest of the map, directly opposite the entrance to the Advanced Combat Research wing. Look up at the entrance and use the grappling hook. Answer the orange phone ahead. Continue on through the double doors and out onto the balcony. Head down and look in the room on the right with the glass windows to find a red mannequin holding the Keycard. You’ll need to find four Director’s Folders for him.
Collect Director’s Folders
Go to the conference room on the other side of the area and interact with the document on the chest of draws at the back to get the first folder. The second folder is on the last desk in the northwestern corner of the area. The third folder is on a small table next to the chalkboard at the centre of the room. The fourth folder is on the kitchen counter at the back of the breakroom. Place the folders in the trays outside the director’s room in the east of the office.
Chase the director out into the office, gunning down or avoiding the advancing mannequins as you go. Use the grappling hook on the director whenever you get close enough. Repeat four times to reveal the monster. You’ll then need to defeat the monster using guns as you would normal enemies. Use the grappling points to avoid his attacks. Shotguns work particularly well to lower his health. Once he’s down, grab the keycard from his body.
Acquire Cognitive Director Keycard
Head to the Cognitive Research wing in the southeast of the map. Go up the stairs and down the corridor until you come to a room with a vending machine. Go left into an office and interact with the computer near the window then select Open Bathysphere.
Drain Cognitive Research Pool
Turn around and head to the centre of the office, look up, and grapple to the balcony above. Jump into the water, swim down and to the back of the pool to find a tunnel. Follow it then surface and climb up the ladder. Go right then right again into the Drainage office. Interact with the computer by the window and unlock the drain switches.
You’ll have 25 seconds to activate three switches. The first is in the same room as the computer. The second is in a locked room opposite the Drainage office. The keypad code is 7072. Make sure to unlock it before attempting to activate all three switches or you simply won’t have time. The third is on a ledge on the other side of the water where you surface from the tunnels, which you can reach with the grappling hook. Activate all three switches within the time limit to start the drainage process.
Head back to the main pool using the tunnels you swam through previously then grab the keycard from the broken receptacle at the centre. The Director will appear. Use the grappling points around the pool’s edge to get out of harm’s way and lodge as many bullets as you can into the Director before moving. Take out the zombie hordes as a priority to give you space to manoeuvre. Once the Director is down, grab the Keycard from his body. Exit the wing, mowing down the horde in the corridor as you leave.
Acquire Joint Projects Director Keycard
Make your way over to the Joint Projects wing in the northeast of the facility. Use the grappling hook to reach the balcony above the entrance. Answer the phone down the corridor on the right. Head forward into the Joint Operations research area through the double doors down the corridor. Go to the large glass container at the back of the area and find the camera, as indicated by the objective marker, and grab the keycard. This will spawn the Director monster boss.
He’s not as tough as the other ones, but is far more mobile and will disappear intermittently to complicate the fight. Track the monster’s shriek and look out for parts of the environment that are moving then shoot them to reveal the Director again. Zombies will also chase after you about halfway through the fight. Keep firing bullets into the creature and it will eventually fall. Grab the Keycard off its body.
Remove Security Lockdown
Once you have all four Director Keycards, head back to the main lobby at the centre of the facility and insert them into the Main Console to unlock the elevator.
Enter Biotechnology
Go to the elevator at the very back of the facility and ride it up into the Biotechnology department. Answer the phone on the table. After a short cutscene, you’ll face off against the Executive Director. The tactic is the same as with the other Director bosses: use the grappling hook to get out of trouble, thin the zombie horde, and get in as many shots on the Executive Director as and when you can. He’ll empower certain zombies (recognisable by their red health bar); grapple over to them to dispatch them quickly. Use height to your advantage by grappling up the higher balconies.
Once the Executive Director is dealt with, you’ll reunite with Marshall and Sev. With that, you’ll have completed the Emergence mission and will get the Head Games trophy for your trouble. Up next is the High Rollers mission.
