Bloodborne guide – How to get the Saw Spear

The Saw Spear is a weapon that can be found early on in Bloodborne, and deals 85 damage plus 9 thrust damage from the outset. It’s similar to the Saw Cleaver, though deals slightly less damage. It has a shorter attack time than the Hunter Axe, so provides a good balance to your arsenal. And if you try to purchase it from the Bath Messengers, it’ll cost 1000 Blood Echoes, so it’s better to go on a quick run.

From the Central Yharnam bonfire, head down the stairs to the left. Pass through the two sets of doors in front of you. If you haven’t unlocked the second door yet, head through the first door, up the staircase and out the door to the left. Head straight across and drop down the crumbled brickwork. Follow the path to your left and you’ll be on the other side of the locked door, where it can be opened.

From here, turn around and keep going straight, ignoring the dogs if possible. You’ll come to a room with a large glass-pane window at the far end with orange light beaming through. Once you’re here, don’t go down the stairs. Instead, smash the barrels to the right to reveal a broken window.

Drop through the hole and onto the ledge. Across the wooden walkways is a suspended body holding an item, the Saw Spear. There’s also a dead body holding ‘Coldblood Dew (1)’ to the left. Attack the body to drop it into the sewers. BE CAREFUL that your attack both hits the body and doesn’t cause you to fall too.

Once the body has fallen, proceed to gradually drop down the levels, and you’ll land amongst some sewer rats. Make sure they don’t knock you to the very bottom floor with the boats as you cannot get back up onto the ledge with the Saw Spear and will have to go all the way back around Yharnam to retrieve it. If this happens, it’s easier to die and run back from the lamp. Once the rats are dead, grab the Saw Spear.
