Is there a story in Battlefield 2042

No, Battlefield 2042 does not have a single-player campaign. However, the game begins with a cutscene narrated by Kimble “Irish” Graves. This sets up the conflict between the forces of the US, Russia, and the No-Pats. Themes of natural disasters and global destabilization simmer in the background. It’s an omission that means that Battlefield 2042 is purely a multiplayer experience.

While this isn’t shown in the multiplayer modes, there’s a lot going on in the fictional world of Battlefield 2042. Eastern Europe suffers from wildfires while Florida is mostly underwater. Refugees take up arms in a mass immigration movement and form the No-Pats. While the world begins to rebuild, both American and Russian superpowers rely on No-Pats in their armies. You can learn more on the official Battlefield 2042 website.

But that doesn’t mean that the game is a barebones offering. Thanks to a heap of updates, there are plenty of modes to play with friends in the game. From the objective-based Conquest to classic Battlefield 3 modes in Portal, there’s something for all sorts of fans. The traditional Team Deathmatch is an option too. Or you could try the new Hazard Zone.

Is it worth playing a Battlefield game without a single-player mode

While Battlefield has been known for its solid campaigns, its multiplayer component is just as memorable. Promising large-scale destruction across its maps, Battlefield 2042 is a worthy successor to the titles before it. While some features like a scoreboard were missing at launch, the game has improved greatly over the past six Seasons and its content updates. It’s definitely worth trying, especially since it’s on Game Pass.

That covers the Battlefield 2042 campaign. Try out the game today on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Note that the game has crossplay support too.
