Best way to defeat Viconia

One of the best defences you can bring with you is the daylight spell. As multiple enemies in this fight will use darkness, this is a great defence to avoid being blinded. Since Viconia is also sensitive to sunlight, the daylight spell is also very effective in making her vulnerable.

Throughout the fight, avoid dealing any radiant damage. Instead, stick with elemental damage like fire, lightning, and ice. These are more effective at destroying the enemies in the area.

We suggest using an AoE spell such as Ice Storm to deal damage to multiple foes. Other spells such as Glyph of Warding, Wall of Fire, and Disintegrate are very useful as well. We found Spike Growth to be a very useful spell during this fight as many of the melee-focused enemies had no choice but to walk through it to hit us.

Be sure to target large groups of enemies first and then deal with Viconia as this will help make the fight easier. Summons are also very helpful in this situation as they can help take some of the pressure off of your characters.

One of the most helpful things you can do is incapacitate Viconia from the start of the fight. She likes to transform into a wolf. To prevent this, you can use spells like hold person or silence.

Later in the fight, Viconia will use Divine Intervention to deal a lot of damage to your party. Be sure to keep a healer on standby for when this happens. This way, you can get your health back and not worry about being defeated. If you kept Shadowheart as a Cleric, you should have access to Divine Intervention at this point in the campaign. It is okay to use this spell against Viconia if needed to help clear out all of the enemies in the area.

We recommend having a combination of a Cleric (tempest or healing), Fighter (Eldritch Knight or Battlemaster), Monk (Way of the Open Hand), Paladin (Oathbreaker or Ancients), Sorcerer (Wild Magic or Storm), or Druid (Circle of the Moon).

These classes are all great choices to have in your party for the fight. Above anything, make sure you have characters who are good with AoE spells and a powerful healer.
