Should you take Raphael’s Deal in Baldur’s Gate 3? His deal is pretty simple – he gives you the Orphic Hammer and you give him the Crown of Karsus in exchange. Of course, it can be easy not to trust Raphael since he is a devil, but he does offer a means to a cure.
If you are in Act Three you may want help investigating the suspicious toys in Baldur’s Gate 3. You may also be wondering how to free Orpheus. Of course, this is the perfect opportunity to save scum in Baldur’s Gate 3 if you aren’t happy with your choice.
If you want to defeat the Elder Brain, Raphael may be your best choice. How do you finish this quest? Should you take Raphael’s deal in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Should you accept Raphael’s Deal in Baldur’s Gate 3?
We say that you should not accept Raphael’s Deal. Throughout our playthroughs of Baldur’s Gate 3, we have discovered how to get everything Raphael offers without the need to make a deal with the devil. Nonetheless, let’s break down what happens in both scenarios.
What happens if you accept Raphael’s Deal?
You can meet up with Raphael in Sharess’ Caress brothel outside of Baldur’s Gate. Accepting his deal here will grant you the following:
- The Orphic Hammer (the legendary weapon needed to free Orpheus)
- A cure for the Mind Flayer Tadpole/Parasite infecting your brain
In return for these, you will need to get the Netherbrain’s crown, also known as the Crown of Karsus. Don’t think that this is the end, you can still change your mind and are not bound by any sort of contract. Some party members will even be happy if you deny Raphael later on.
Of course, you should be careful since now holding up your end of the bargain will make Raphael angry and lead to you needing to deal with the Illithid Parasites without his help.
Accepting his deal will also be upsetting to the Emperor who would rather assimilate Orpheus rather than free him.
What happens if you refuse Raphael’s Deal?
There are multiple interactions with Raphael throughout the game leading to the point where he asks you to accept the deal or not. If you and your party are determined to say no and risk eternity with the parasites, you will want to do the following throughout your playthrough:
- Deny Raphael in Act One
- In Act Two, don’t kill the demon named Yurgir inside the Gauntlet of Shar
- Deny Raphael again in Act Three
If you follow these three steps, you will learn how to break into Raphael’s home called the House of Hope. Yurgir can explain how to break into the House of Hope. It is done by going to the Devil’s Fee in the Lower City portion of Baldur’s Gate. Once there, talk to Diabolist Helsik and get her ritual kit.
Did you know?
If you choose to break into the House of Hope, you will be treated to one of the best boss fights in Baldur’s Gate 3 which involves Raphael singing to you.
From there, you can send your soul to hell and do combat with the devil in Raphael’s Domain to get the Orphic Hammer for yourself without the need to make a deal.
