Baldur’s Gate 3 patch 2 explained
A community update from Larian Studios about patch 2 on Steam promised quality-of-life and major performance improvements across Act 3 and the epilogue, including the endings of Karlach. Since launch, Larian Studios have been quickly firing out hotfixes in addition to a massive patch that dealt with several bugs. They’ve been listening to feedback and have been working on new tweaks since the first major patch.
The developers promise to look beyond bug fixes and performance boosts to the narrative side. This means incorporating fan requests like tweaking the game’s finale. Larian Studios also addressed concerns regarding “cut content” floating about in the BG3 community forums. They noted that most of this was down to bugs or that these potential additions weren’t as solid as the rest of the game.
The latter also included trimming down the epilogue “because we were afraid the ending cinematics were becoming too long and would detract from the epicness of the experience,” according to the studio. Now that fans have suggested otherwise, the devs have decided to flesh out the game’s many endings. This includes Baldur’s Gate 3 Origin character epilogues for better closure, paired with new companion reactions for a fleshed-out ending.
When to expect Baldur’s Gate 3 patch 2
Larian Studios has released Baldur’s Gate 3 patch 2 for PC players. PS5 players get their hands on it after Baldur’s Gate 3 PS5 Early Access.
What can you expect from Baldur’s Gate 3 patch 2
The first point of resolution is Baldur’s Gate 3 Karlach. Her epilogue portion didn’t nail the landing, so Larian stated, “We’ve started expanding the epilogues and you’ll see the first results of that in Patch 2 with the addition of a new optional ending with Karlach.” They also intend to fix a silly bug that blocked 1500 Minthara lines but this will be fixed sometime after patch 2. Next, Larian Studios intends to improve game performance, particularly at Baldur’s Gate.
Here’s how to reach Baldur’s Gate in Baldur’s Gate 3. But be warned, it currently has performance issues. “We’ll also be working throughout September to improve performance in Act 3 further with new technology that’s been taking a bit longer to release than we expected,” the developer said.
Another welcome feature that Larian Studios is working on is the ability to alter your character’s appearance mid-campaign. But this doesn’t have a definite release date. As for deleting co-op party members, Larian Studios promised a fix. Withers’ Wardrobe of Wayward Friends promises to handle this. “Simply place any unwanted party members in this peculiar piece of paranormia, and they’ll be out of sight and mind until the jolly cooperation continues,” Larian said in a promotional image. It’s out for players to test out.
