How long is Baldur’s Gate 3?

Larian Studios has confirmed that Baldur’s Gate 3 will take 75 to 100 hours to complete. This comes straight from Swen Vincke, head of Larian Studios. After getting our hands on the game, we can say that you can easily put upwards of 100 hours into it thanks to the number of side quests and interactions with your party members.

A Completionist run can take upwards of 150 hours to clear out the game’s side quests. It’ll certainly take longer than a standard playthrough of the game. You can’t hope to see all of the game’s 174 hours of cinematics (twice as big as Game of Thrones) without a replay. And it’s got three times the text of The Lord of the Rings novels and 17,000 potential endings. It’s easy to say this isn’t a small game.

Past games from Larian Studios such as Divinity Original Sin also have incredible long campaigns that can take upwards of 100 hours to complete.

This is because the Dungeons & Dragons game offers unique dialogue choices based on your class and race. Your class also determines how well you can persuade characters to see your perspective. With the potential to fail skill checks and get widely differing outcomes, the game will uncover more of its secrets on subsequent playthroughs. For instance, the Baldur’s Gate 3 Dank Crypt has several secrets to discover.

How long is Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access?

In Early Access, players got to play through Act 1 of the game, equating roughly to 25-30 hours of playtime. Larian Studios has confirmed that the D&D game’s first act will get even more polish before the game releases. This ranges from minor tweaks to an overhaul of Wyll, a companion and playable origin character in the game.

Take your time as you explore the main story and the Forgotten Realms setting. The latest Baldur’s Gate promises an immersive world, packing an immense amount of depth into its quests. The full game has plenty of heroes, villains, and everyone in between to meet, each with unique beliefs and ideologies.

Expect themes of sacrifice, betrayal, and survival to weave together a fantasy tale of fellowship across dozens of hours. Different choices, right from your race and subclasses to magic add depth to the main characters. And if you’re struggling to get all the achievements, consider enabling karmic dice for a smoother journey.

The BG3 playtime doesn’t account for the incredible moments you’ll experience in its turn-based combat system. With the game now on PlayStation, Xbox Series X, and PC, there is even more content added. Larian Studios released an update that added more content to the game along with an epilogue. This will allow you to see the after-effects of your choices at the end of the game as well as further get to know your companions.
