Do you want to help Omeluum investigate the parasite in Baldur’s Gate 3? There is no denying that the parasite has taken a toll on your character in BG3. If you haven’t been harnessing its powers, you probably want to get rid of it as soon as possible.
Omeluum in the Underdark offers a solution to your aid. All you need to do is collect some mushrooms and you should be able to get that Illithid Tadpole out of your noggin. It is a dangerous journey and one that might require a strong Baldur’s Gate 3 cleric build.
Of course, there are some companions who don’t like this. If you want to keep Lae’zel as a companion, you might want to leave her at camp. This is also a way to gain favor with other companions if you want to romance them. Here is how to help Omeluum investigate the parasite in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Where to find Omeluum in Baldur’s Gate 3
Omeluum is located in the Underdark. Before you can interact with this Mind Flayer ally, you must travel to the Underdark using one of the multiple entrances from the surface. We recommend going through the Goblin Camp to reach the Underdark as this will bring you to the Selunite Outpost and get you a useful waypoint.
Once you reach the Underdark, head to the northern side of the map. Here, you will find the Myconid Colony. After gaining access to the colony, stick to the right side to find the Hobgoblin merchant named Blurg. Speak with him and he will introduce you to Omeluum.
How to get Omeluum’s quest in Baldur’s Gate 3
Speak with Omeluum and tell him about the Illithid tadpole in your head. He will mention that he knows some mushrooms that can possibly cure it when made into a potion.
You will be tasked with finding the mushrooms Omeluum requested after this. You will need to find Tongue of Madness and Timmask Spores. You will be told that a cleric named Lenore should have both ingredients. After this, the Arcane Tower will appear on your map. This also starts the main quest for helping Omeluum.
How to help Omeluum Investigate the Parasite in Baldur’s Gate 3
To obtain the mushrooms, you will need to make your way to the Arcane Tower located in the southwest of the Underdark. However, you will want to head to the western side first where the Sussur Blooms can be found. This will help you out later when dealing with the Arcane Turrets. Be sure to grab the Sussur Bark here as well.
When you reach the Arcane Tower, you will automatically enter turn-based mode thanks to the Arcane Turrets blocking the entrance. Move your characters within throwing range of the turrets and throw the Sussur Blooms at them. This will deactivate the turrets.
Alternatively, you can deactivate the turrets using magic. Strong lightning spells such as Call Lightning will deactivate them. We go more in-depth about the turrets and the tower in our how to disable arcane turrets in Baldur’s Gate 3 guide.
Head up the staircase and go inside the tower by either lockpicking the front door or by going in through the window. You will have two more Arcane Turrets to deal with inside. Once those are dealt with, go to the southern balcony and use the mushrooms attached to the tower to reach the floor below you.
Here, you can find the first of the ingredients; Timmask Spores. They are on the back wall behind the elevator. The second ingredient can be found on the opposite side of the room. The Tongue of Madness is the large mushrooms growing in the corners.
Before leaving, it is a good idea to finish exploring the Arcane Tower as there are many interesting sights such as Bernard the robot on the top floor and hidden secrets in the basement.
When you return to Omeluum, he will create a tincture for you to drink. If you choose to drink this brew, you will need to make a few saving throws. Afterward, the parasite will still be lingering in your brain. Omeluum will apologize and mention he has a Ring of Mind-Shielding.
Did you know?
You can use multiple buffs to help you convince Omeluum to give you the ring. Multple effects such as Bless and Thaumaturgy can be used to convince NPCs to side with you.
You won’t be given the ring and will instead need to convince Omeluum to hand it over since it protects him from the influence of the other Mind Flayers. That completes the quest to help Omeluum investigate the parasite.
