How to fly in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora with the ikran mount

You can get the flying ikran mount after the Taking Flight quest at the Ikran Roostery in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. You’ll have to do a fair bit of platforming to climb its heights and tame an ikran. It’s a level 5 quest, meaning that it’ll take a while to gain access via the main storyline. Until then, you’ll be traveling on foot across Pandora’s gorgeous jungles. That’s not an issue thanks to your character being pretty speedy and flexible on foot.

An ikran mount makes the world easier to explore. It also unlocks a special skill tree for aerial combat. But having access to a flying companion doesn’t make you invincible. Ground forces can take you out, especially anti-air cannons at RDA outposts designed to knock down ikran combatants. You can also find neutral ikran who aren’t kind to visitors. So be mindful of how you use your ikran. Some areas unfamiliar to your ikran will also be inaccessible via flight until you progress in the main storyline. Instead, these locations will provide other options like the speedy Direhorse.

Ikran mounts aren’t invincible in Avatar

While you can dodge bullets, anti-air cannons and rockets from Samson helis can knock you out if you aren’t careful.

Is it worth getting an ikran mount in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Absolutely. I’d even recommend sticking to the main storyline until you gain access to this graceful beast of nature. It makes exploration a breeze, especially when you’re on the hunt for specific plants or animals for crafting materials. Focusing on the campaign is a good idea if you want to quickly get an ikran in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
