Scattered across Assassin’s Creed Shadows are Kofun, tombs you can explore for chests containing gear, trinkets, and weapons. Navigating their dark caves and meandering tunnels requires some pinpoint parkouring and a strong sense of direction. To complicate matters a tad, their layouts and the nature of the challenges within them mean they can only be played through as one of the dual protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke.
Getting to the end of every one of these dark subterranean puzzles is no small feat. But, before that you’ll need to find them. In this guide, we’ll walk you through where to find all the 10 Kofun locations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Old Kofun
- Location – Izumi Coast, Izumi Settsu
- Protagonist – Naoe
- Reward – Amaterasu’s Blessing Legendary Trinket, 1000 XP, 1 Knowledge Point
The Old Kofun is the first Kofun you’ll likely come across in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. It’s located in the north of the Izumi Coast sub-region of Izumi Settsu, just east of the town of Sakai and south of Sumiyoshi Shrine.

Makino Kurumazuka Kofun
- Location – Yawata Plains
- Protagonist – Yasuke
- Reward – Blush of the Earth Legendary Bow, 1000 XP, and 1 Knowledge Point
You’ll find the Makino Kurumazuka Kofun in the very north of Izumi Settsu in the Yawata Plains sub-region. It’s north of the Bamboo Cutters Watchtower and east across the river from Takatsuki. Though you’ll find it fairly early on, you’ll need to have Yasuke unlocked to complete the Kofun.

Ancient Tomb of Nanjo
- Location – Eagle’s Nest, Yamashiro
- Protagonist – Naoe
- Reward – Yukimitsu’s Revenge Legendary Tanto, 1000 XP, and 1 Knowledge Point
The Ancient Tomb of Nanjo is located up in the hills in the north of the Yamashiro sub-region of Eagle’s Nest. The Kofun is immediately west of the southern part of Kyoto and just northeast of the Forsaken Pagoda fast travel viewpoint.

Azuchi Hyotanyama Kofun
- Location – Suzuka Foothills, Omi
- Protagonist – Yasuke
- Reward – Heartspiller Legendary Bow, 1000 XP, and 1 Knowledge Point
The Azuchi Hyotanyama Kofun is tucked away in the south east of Omi in the Suzuka Foothills sub-region. It’s located southeast of Azuchi and can be reached by following the path east from Eto Hill.

Veiled Tumulus Kofun
- Location – Mount Uchinakao, Wakasa
- Protagonist – Naoe
- Reward – Stone Heart Legendary Kusarigama, 1000 XP, and 1 Knowledge Point
You’ll find the Veiled Tumulus Kofun in the southwestern corner of the Mount Uchinakao sub-region in Wakasa province. It’s east of the city of Obama and positioned on the southern tip of Lake Suigetsu not far from the Sanjoga Take Overlook viewpoint.

Takagi Kofun
- Location – Kanki Burned Fields, Harima
- Protagonist – Yasuke
- Reward – Death’s Bloom Legendary Teppo, 1000 XP, and 1 Knowledge Point
The Takagi Kofun is found in the south of the Kanki Burned Fields sub-region of Harima. It’s different from the other Kofun in that it’s located inside a guarded area called Takagi Otsuka Fort, sandwiched between Miki to the northeast and Kakogawa Estuary to the southwest.

Megalithic Vault Kofun
- Location – Koriyama, Yamato
- Protagonist – Yasuke
- Reward – Elegant Samurai Outfit Legendary Armor, 1000 XP, and 1 Knowledge Point
You can find the Megalithic Vault Kofun in the northeast of the Yamato province in the Koriyama sub-region. It’s located just west of Todaiji, the massive temple complex that dominates the valley in the area.

Ishibutai Kofun
- Location – Asuka Rocks Basin, yamato
- Protagonist – Naoe
- Reward – Masakado’s Vengeance Legendary Trinket, 1000 XP, and 1 Knowledge Point
The Ishibutai Kofun is located in the northeast of the Asuka Rocks Basin sub-region of Yamato province. Surrounded by rice fields on all sides, it’s located northeast of Gose and southeast of the town of Katsuragi.

Chasuriyama Kofun
- Location – Chasuriyama, Tamba
- Protagonist – Naoe
- Reward – Scarlet Fate Legendary Tanto, 1000 XP, 1 Knowledge Point
You’ll find the Chasuriyama Kofun rather aptly in the Chasuriyama sub-region in the northwest of the Tamba province. The Kofun is west of Fukuchiyama Castle and north of Takeda.

Shimosato Kofun
- Location – Kumano Sanazan, Kii
- Protagonist – Yasuke
- Reward – Riddle of Steel Legendary Naginata, 1000 XP, and 1 Knowledge Point
Last but not least, the Shimosato Kofun is located in the southeastern sub-region of Kii called Kumano Sanzan. The Kofun is just southeast of the Kumano Nachi Taisha temple complex and immediately south of the Kumano Kakurega.
While there’s no overall reward for completing all 10 Assassin’s Creed Shadows Kofun, completing your first one will unlock the Kofun Raider trophy.
