As you explore Baghdad and sneak into restricted areas, you might wonder how to upgrade your weapons in AC Mirage. Your weapons are what let you deal more damage to enemies, while also granting bonus perks between each weapon.

If you have enough resources to spare, consider only upgrading your weapon if you feel like you aren’t doing enough damage. This can be done by visiting a Blacksmith, represented by an icon showing two crossed swords. How to upgrade weapons in AC Mirage

To upgrade your weapons, you must visit a Blacksmith anywhere in Baghdad and spend your leather and steel ingots there. You can find Blacksmiths all over Baghdad, but they are shown on your map by a pair of crossed swords.

When you speak to them, you can hover over your weapon and you will see if it can be upgraded and how many resources it will cost to do so. You will also see that some weapons have special perks that grant various boons and benefits in combat, however, these do not improve when you upgrade the weapon. If you need to gather more Steel or Leather, you can find them all around Baghdad by looting, finding treasure, completing side quests, or buying more from Traders.

To upgrade a weapon, you will also need an upgrade schematic. These schematics can only be found in heavily guarded chests indicated by gold chests on your map. Some weapons will get stronger in different ways when you upgrade them, but generally speaking, the outcome is always the same: you get more damage out of the upgraded weapon.

When should you upgrade weapons in AC Mirage?

Just because you can upgrade your weapons, does that mean you should? Generally speaking, it depends on how much you want to explore – you will naturally find better weapons as you progress through the game – but since you can instant-kill enemies, it makes a weapon’s damage slightly meaningless.

If you really like a weapon you have then feel free to upgrade it or not, it comes down to what you want to do with your resources and if you have some to spare. We recommend upgrading your weapons as an afterthought, using your Steel and Leather on them only when you’ve spent it elsewhere. Since upgrading a weapon doesn’t increase its passive perk, the only reason to upgrade one is to increase its damage.
