Anyone keen on early access might be wondering about the Armored Core 6 New Zealand trick, and whether it works.

After a decade long dry-spell on Armored Core 6, fans are excited to be launching themselves back into saving the planet from destruction and all that good stuff. If you haven’t pre ordered AC6 yet, there might still be time. The next step for playing it early is obviously to find out about early access, but if you’ve already done your research, you’ll know this isn’t an option – even if you bought the deluxe edition or are playing on console.

So, what about the New Zealand trick? What is it and does it work for Armored Core 6? The New Zealand trick is a cheeky means of playing early. By setting your time zone on your system to New Zealand, you might be able to play the game early. Unfortunately, it depends on the release time of the game (which is midnight in your timezone) and on whether you have the digital edition of the game.

Armored Core 6 early access – can you play it early?

In the absence of Early Access, you might be able to play Armored Core 6 early by using the New Zealand trick, though only if you’re playing on Xbox or PlayStation. According to an announcement on Twitter, “the game is scheduled to launch on PC globally on August 24 at 10 p.m. UTC, while on consoles, it will become available on August 25 at midnight in your local time zone.”

In other words, PC players won’t be able to play Armored Core early because it unlocks in all regions at the same time. PlayStation players don’t have it so easy either. Sony has made it a little harder for players to do the trick, though it’s still possible. We want to point out the risks of trying the trick. It’s possible that your console will be flagged and potentially banned from online play.

All you need to do if you’re playing on PC or Xbox is set your location to New Zealand which should let you play earlier than everyone else. For PlayStation users, you’ll need to register an account from scratch while selecting your location to New Zealand. You’ll also need to have purchased the game by using a New Zealand based credit card, which is a bit tricky. Bear in mind you’ll have to play the game with your second account and won’t be able to change it.

Technically, you could use the New Zealand trick and play Armored Core 6 a couple of days early if you’re playing on console.
